• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Go for it, Wanna be!

At the age of 57, after riding 30,000+ miles behind Erags on our 2008 SM5 GS/RS, I bought our 2012 SE5 RT...without having a motorcycle endorsement at the time. I had never had any motorcycle experience (other than learning enough to drive the Spyder in the event of an emergency). I hoped I was going to really like being the driver rather than the passenger since I figured Erags would never let me hear the end of it if I decided it wasn't for me. As others have posted, not being a motorcyclist transitioning from 2 wheels to 3 will mean you don't have bad habits to break. There weren't any 3 wheel MSF classes being offered in Pensacola at the time so I ended up taking the 2 day required motorcycle safety class on a 2 wheel scooter. (I didn't enjoy the prospect of 2 wheels at all since visions of crashing/injuries were floating in my head the entire time). I passed the class and picked up my new driver's license with the M endorsement on it the next day. Since then, I've got just over 22,000 miles on my beloved Spyder in 14 months. We ride with the Patriot Guard as often as we can; I would ride with them when Ed was getting chemo or was too fatigued to go on missions. We are having a blast going to as many Spyder rallies as we can, visiting with old friends and making new ones. Getting a Spyder opened up a new world to us; getting our SECOND Spyder made that world even better. Find a demo ride in your area or come to a Spyder rally. Discover a whole new world of fun.

WANABE OR GONABE RIDER

I would love to own a Spider RT - at my age it is too late to start riding a two-wheeler! My problem is that I haven't found a dealer who will let me test drive one and all the bikers I have talked to have all been very negative about the Spider. I need some good info from Spider owners: how does it handle? would it be easy for a rookie to drive? Any info you would like to share would be greatly appreciated. I will be honest - I want to ride in Rolling Thunder and with the Patriot Guard Riders! Thanks in advance for your help. Wanabe Rider

Let's talk about age. I am 71 and love my Spyder (2013 RT Ltd. w/trailer). When I was inquiring at the dealer, an 80 year old man had just flown in to NC from AZ to pick up his Spyder he bought from the dealer through eBay. He had his backpack and was heading out on the highway back to his home in Arizona. He was going to celebrate his 81st birthday on the road.

I have had 3 two wheelers in the past, and during the last 3 years I had a Honda Goldwing Trike conversion. The Spyder is easier to ride and has so many more safety features and great comfort.

If you are in the Charlotte, NC area, let me know and I will introduce you to the dealer I used. They will allow you to test drive a Spyder. They are Lake Norman Power Sports in Cornelius, NC. It is a small minority owned (Mother & 2 daughters) who deal only in BRP products; (704) 896-6022 ask for Susan.

We have an 18' modified trailer to haul our Spyder & Spyder trailer behind our 40' motorhome. We also ride with Patriot Guard and Rolling Thunder.

Best wishes on your decision and perhaps we can meet someday.

My wife did not have a motorcycle endorsement and was able to ride a spyder in the dealer's parking lot. We both like riding the spyder(I ride mostly on two). She got her license through an MSF course and a month later we went on a 2400 mile ride to West Virginia.:spyder2:

How old are you? What did the bikers that gave you negative feedback about the SpYder ride. What do you really want to ride.

I had a '09 GS & currently ride a '12 RT limited. One problem with the GS, & no problems with the RT. All machines will break down sometime. I have ridden since '68 and have had some problems with different 2-wheelers. It more or less depends on what you want to ride the most.

I am 66 and I would like to ride an RT. Most of the negatives dealt with poor handling. I would guess that they say that because I'm sure it is different than riding a 2-wheeler as you and other responders have mentioned.

The handling is something that you'll grow to love with some time in the saddle.
But it can be unnerving at first... if you have had lots of time on two-wheelers! :D nojoke
