There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Need help with poor running Spyder while at Daytona bike week

I am having a problem with my Spyder running rough when I have been sitting in traffic and bike is hot. It cuts out almost like only running on one cylinder. I rode all day today and it did it again. I took to daytona Spyder dealer this morning but of course it was running fine.

Any thoughts or recommendations?

I have a 800 mile trip home on Sunday to make.

Thanks,

Shawn

Possible

I can't tell you what causes your problem for sure but I can tell you one of a few possibilities
My experience is that there is a little chance that blown "Y" gaskets might cause rough running when heated on 4 or more bars, however I would bet my $$$ on one of your plug wire , possibly front one or maybe even both plug wires are gone past their short life. It is typical for plug wire with internal destruction causing rough running of engine when heated thorough and runs fine otherwise - when cold or up to three bars.
i would -
- check gaskets and replace if needed ( use Honda GW ones )
If issue still persistent
- replace plug wires ( Bajaron has them )
If issue still there
- replace plugs ( or just replace them straight away with wires $20,- give or take )
If issue still there
- well, wait for some one else to chime in or seek a Dealer

Btw, if it runs on one cylinder you would notice and feel it and hear it too
worse case scenario I can imagine would be faulty ECU but issue would be there regardless of temp then
if it's under warranty, let your D take care of it

Let us know , what was it when solved

Problems that come on only with heat are difficult to track. Getting to the dealer when it is hot and actually running rough is one of the best solutions. Another thing to note is whether it merely idles rough, is rough under acceleration or load, at high rpms, or all across the rpm band. With that info there is a fighting chance.

Things to look at...
Bad plugs wires, faulty plugs, purge valve issue, idle air valve issue, faulty O2 sensor, Y-gasket failure, etc. Tackle the easy ones first, if you have no other clues. Checking the diagnostic codes when it is misfiring may or may not reveal a clue.

The Daytona Spyder dealer replaced the plugs today after i insisted they do something to try to fix instead of nothing but tonight it did it again when sitting in traffic for 10-15 minutes. Back to them in the morning for the 3rd time to have them replace the wires. :(

I do smell exhaust fumes after putting on my air wings from my old spyder.

How do you know if the gaskets are blown? I have almost 7000 miles on it.

According to what your saying It seems to happen when your sitting in traffic and Spyder is hot, What was your temp gauge reading and was cooling fan running when bike
reaches 5 bars + on gauge...

Yes it was sitting in traffic and running 5 bars. Happened several times on the way home. :( I had the Daytona dealer replace plugs even though they didn't want to do that but it didn't fix the issue.

I talked to one of the head BRP techs and he thinks it is for sure the spark plug wires. I will be putting on my aftermarket ones tomorrow and will retest it.
