Need help understanding Robobrackets

I'm looking at the mustad robo bracket. It appears at one point they say you mount them to your existing windshield and then add a second windshield in the front. Am I misunderstanding what they are saying?

If so do their brackets mount in the existing spyder windshield mounting holes? Then you drill new holes in a windshield to fit the robo brackets?

I'm looking at this setup to replace the stingray that I, note I say I, cracked mounting. Yeah... we all have a foobar every now and again. /Ken

The spyder robobracket kit come with and adapter plate the bolts up to where your stock windshield goes. You then bolt the robobrackets to the adapter plate. Your windshield then can be fitted to the robobrackets.
I just bought the whole kit windshield included. But others on this site have mounted their existing shield to the brackets.

The brackets make a great place to mount the RAM mount for you Garmin 550 GPS - puts the GPS right over your instruments, and always at the same visual aspect.

I also used the full kit, and am quite happy with the 22" shield..

thanks for the information. I was getting a little confused from watching their video. Appreciate the tip on the GPS mounting too. I need to get mine mounted... here lately I seem to be lost all the time. The Jack Russel likes that though... she gets to ride longer. /Ken

Anybody using these that are tall..like 6'6". Wonder how they work:dontknow: 22" just doesn't seem tall enough to me, even with the tilting.

Dick, Brian is 6'4" and he is using the 22" and has it adjusted so that it works very well for him. I do think they offer a slightly larger shield (24") if you need it though.

Does Brian have the shield all the way up and fairly straight ? I am 6'2" and the wind is hitting my forehead.

I don't know about the Robo-Brackets, but with the CHAD, I found I had less wind with the shield all the way up, but tilted back quite a way.
