• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Need help on purchasing security system, and or wheel locks?

RE

Depends on how much you want to spend. I purchased the talon alarm and have been very happy with it. The price was reasonable, it has a battery backup and was easy to install.

I was advised against getting any additional security system as there is no market for chopped up spyders, at least not yet.

In addition, without the chip in your key, the spyder is going nowhere...

If someone wants your vehicle, they're gonna get it no matter what you do...period....apparently good thieves know where the lojack sensors are and can remove them quite easily...

The best advice I was given was to be careful where you park and keep the bike visible...if I was going to get an alarm, one that calls a pager is the best way to go as you are notified if the spyder is moved...

You could check out Guidepoint Systems, I've seen a couple of things on them and they seem to have better coverage than lojack. Personally, a good alarm should do the job.

I installed the Scorpio Alarm in both of our Spyders and love them. It has the perimeter sensor which is the main reason we purchased them. With all the interest in the Spyder, it seems to attract people who want to touch and sit on them.
When we were in Vegas two weeks ago for bikeFest, the perimeter alarm was set off 5 times. That is 5 people who decided to get to close to it. I was amazed at the range of the remote pagers. The bikes were on the 3rd floor of a concrete parking garage and we were in the 12th floor of a concrete hotel.

I use the Talon and I am very happy with it. I bought it for more of a detourant for those that want to sit and touch it rather than theft. If they really want it they are going to steal it.
