• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Need a new helmet?

What was that machine that used polymer materials to render 3-D copies? I wonder if that technology could be used to fabricate a workable helmet?

That started out as "stereo lithography", first one I saw was at GM AME around 1988. Some of the things I worked on there are just now coming on line, almost makes me wish I was still working.

I've had the opportunity to see many of these machines operate at some of my customer sites. You can get really drawn in watching these things. I have to say though, the 2:00 minute scene reminds me of a visit to the dentist :yikes: :roflblack:

Anybody gopt some spare titanium? I need 2 hips 2 knees and 2 ankles for starters. When I figure out a design there will be individual fascet re-enforcement tail to top and then some shoulders and wolverine hands, that might do it for now.... maybe! lol

I'm always amazed by 3d patterns and 5 axis machines - too bad they make the parts more expensive.

The continuous full 5 axis is so cool...but so expensive. Almost 5 times the price of a 3 + 1 axis machine.

Great new concept for custom made helmets

Can you imagine shipping them a mold of your noggin and have them send you back a helmet that fits perfectly...not out of aluminum of course. I'm stoked!

My buddy went to Chennai India for total hip replacement. An RN himself he spoke highly of them. Has a blog discount-joint-replacement.com. Mike Sakalakas. Loves to dance and he's back at it now. 6800 he spent.

Some of these videos make me jealous and leave me in awe at the same time. The advances in aluminium cutters has been great the last few years. Combine that with heat shrink tooling and the ever faster high-speed spindles you get some amazing stuff. Especially with the multi axis mill running in combination with a lathe.
