There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Nd motorcycle license

Questions

I am new to the spyder and motorcycles in general. I called the DMV in North Dakota and they told me the law just changed and you only need a class D license to ride the spyder. Just wondering if anyone else has heard this or when it changed.

Could be just your state law. In NJ you need to have
a motorcycle license. I think in MD you don't need one.

This does look like a change in the ND regulations. The stuff on the Web doesn't mention such an exception. I'd drop by the DMV and ask them for a copy of the new rule.

I had heard that the Spyder is considered a motorcycle in all 50 states but 3 that had motorcycle endorsements you don't need one (one of these states is California) I also was told that in three states that have helmet laws you don't need a helmet. In Kansas there is no helmet law after 18 but you need a M endorsement to ride the Spyder. I think they are a little confused about it.:spyder::hun:

I found that in Missouri, you need a motorcycle endorsement, but only with limitations. Meaning that you will be allowed a skills test with the cones set up for the Spyder, and once you pass, you can only ride the three wheel Spyder and not a two wheel motorcycle.

You need a motorcycle license here in MD...although if you test on your Spyder, you get a M class with a J restriction....the J referring to 3 wheel vehicles only...

M endorsement in Texas, but you can test in your Spyder and is a normal street test, whitout any motorcycle specific element. The computer test requires you to learn a lot of byke specific stuff.

Thanks for all the replys. I talked to the dmv again and they changed it in the 2009 legislature. You used to have to have a motorcycle license but could only drive the spyder not a conventional two wheeler if you did the test with the spyder. They now classify it as a non conventional vehicle and you only need a class D license to operate it. But you can not ride it on the interstate. This is total bs, but my dealer said that brps lawyers are going to sue and get it changed so we will see. Otherwise I am loving the spyder and love the attention it brings, not too many around in central ND.

Man I hope they get it changed! What crock of Sh*t is that where you can't ride on an Interstate? That is the best place to PLAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:2thumbs:
