Does anyone know of a nationwide Spyder Club for owners? Trid Googling the subject but no luck
There are differences between a website and a National club.
The National club could coordinate and offer:
1) An annual convention with drives, social events, meals, swap meet, tech sessions, judged shows, etc.
2) Price discounts using the leverage of a single, large national entity
3) A single source of coordinated information, rather than multiple web sites
4) A single entity that could have a legitimate formal relationship with BRP to info sharing in both directions and faster problem resolution, rather than fragmented per incident
5) A treasury to fund events, give to charity, support members in need
6) A regular hardcopy newsletter
7) Officers that can quickly make decisions on behalf of the membership
8) Develop a registry of Spyders/owners/history/FAQs
The National club concept has been working for decades for the Shelby American Automobile Club, the Pantera Club, the Porsche Club, NSX Club of America, and many more. Web sites have not replaced them yet!
Nothing against websites, and this one is terrific, but National clubs do provide value. Its alot of work, but the size of the Spyder community is growing and someday a National club will make sense.
I would gladly volunteer my time on this effort.
I understand what he is meaning and Gary has a good grasp on it all. As great as these sites are, there is a difference (legal and otherwise) from an actual group. A legal group would consist of bylaws and a board to make decisions. This keeps a balance to make sure that end users have a voice and that no one person can dictate what the group does. Meetings typically follow Roberts Rules of order.
This type of group would have dues, local affiliates, etc. A groups like AKC and UKC for dogs are a good example. National groups and local sub-groups.
HOG chapters for HD, etc.
I thought BRP was going to do more in this realm with it's SpyderRider - but heck they don't even have an online forum!
A website and forum would be an integeral part of such a group - but neither would replace the other.
No thank you. I'm the reluctant leader.nojoke:firstplace: LAMONSTER FOR PRESIDENT!!!! :firstplace:
