My Thoughts On The 2014

Hello to all,
I see there is so much questions people are asking themselves and others should I buy a 2013 or 2014. I can not answer for you, but using wisdom from my learning experience I would like to share a thought. I have a 2012 Rt SM5 with 11,500 miles on it. I bought it as a base model and since then I added the lights in the front, added Ron Jons Sway Bar, and added a radio. This bike has been running flawlessly and never had any problems. I am very pleased with it. Now when the 2013'S came out my wife was blessed and able to get one. She bought the very first one ever sold in Ocala Fla.She bought the 2013 Yellow RTS SE5. This was plagued with many problems from the get go, ball joints, alignment, heat issues. We are blessed to have a great dealer RideNow Power Sports in Ocala Fl, in conjunction with expert advise from Lamont and others were able to pass this very valuable information on to the dealer to guide them in rectifying the problems, and they listened and addressed all the problems. This after all was a new experience for them as well as this model just came out and is different as far as the 2012's are concerned. Due to them listening and working with BRP they took care of our problems and we together were able to help others with their issues as well. Now my friend went down to them today and traded 2 motorcycles ( one missing a gas tank) and 2 scooters ( one did not even start) and bought ( sit down for this) a red 2013 RTS SE5 with the 3 year service plan ( everything included) Got a free voucher for a new helmet and a shirt, walked out the door with all this for $21,000. This Spyder only had 38 miles on it. So in my opinion we should wait till others get them and get some miles on them and see how they like them and what problems are arising on this new model. Then if patient wait till the end if year and get those great deals. That's my thoughts from a past experience. Hope this helps. Thank you Lamont, Thank you all here, and thank you BRP for all working together to make things right, and of course provide us with a awesome machine and a great ride. May God be with you all as your out there on the roads. Sincerely
Mike

Great points..!!

nicely put and I agree especially now. Had the 2013's not had problems things would be different but as they did you will see a lot of fluctuating prices and deals. This is why I agree you should give it time. If you price your roadster for trade now you will be disappointed..and the 14's have yet to be fully tested by Joe Public...

So far my 2013 RT LTD has been good to me. I haven't experienced some of the issues that other 2013 owners have had. Only time will tell on that. I purchased it at my dealer and got the $3000 rebate, plus the dealer matched that with another $3000 off the MSRP. That's a total of $6000 off the price tag, plus I have a three year warranty. That's less than $24,000 for an RT LTD, which I thought was a good price. I'm also considering getting the extended BEST warranty in the future to have extra protection should problems arise.

The next six months should be very interesting. I am hoping for the best.

:agree: Absolutely!! We all thought the 2013 was going to be the best thing since sliced bread. It wasn't. We won't know what problems, if any, the 2014 RTs will have until a significant number have been sold. Heck, it may take the next 9-11 months to wring out all the problems. I'm hoping for the best, but as I like to say, "Hope is not a method."

It's not just Hope; it's also the knowledge that BRP had real issues with the 2013 models, and it fully aware of what another bad year could do to them...
I honestly believe that they'll get it right for 2014! nojoke

We also bought our base 2013 RT from RideNow in Ocala in March and have not had any problems with the Spyder after 2000 miles. Glad to hear they were cooperative in fixing your wife's Spyder. I think the bad rap the 2013's are getting is overblown as the Goldwing had similar issues and Honda is still selling them. BMW's have more defects than Spyders too, but they have a loyal customer base. I think Spyder owners are more critical in general with their bikes than owners of other models.

You Know Why?

That's why I am going to hold onto my 2012 for at least a couple of more years. Both 2013 and 2014 RT are the first of new production types and it may take a couple of years before the kinks are worked out of those! Good luck to all and ride safe!
