How I did my Spyder
This is how we accomplished the painting of the rear tail panel

How we got the idea came about at the Daytona Speedway Bikeweek 2012 as the result of running into a couple of former Deputy Sheriff Officers that did recruit training where my spouse worked. Then she had the opportunity to follow me a couple of times and made the comment that the tail seemed to visually disappear at a distance.
Discussed the job with my favorite dealer and his Service Manager and who they recommended a paint and body shop with a good reputation. We went and met the owner of the shop and discussed the what's and whys and struck up a deal.
set a date with the dealer to remove and replace the rear panel assembly and as luck would have it the had a frunk lid with transportation damage color Pearl White.
The painter had a local automotive paint mixer color match the Pearl White and they did a wonderful match. I believe the paint manufacturer to be Martin Senoner (spelling is probably not correct).
The painter had told us up front that he did not think he could totally make the rough finish smooth by sanding and using filler. But he did a most excellent job and laid the last coat smoother then everyone anticipated.
we took it in on Friday so that the painter could have the part on Saturday to prep, paint and return to the dealer Tuesday for pickup Wednesday morning and that went as planned.
PIN STRIPING
my pin striping was done by a professional automotive pinstripe company owner here in this area. I made my wish that it be reflective black and bold. He started with 1/2 inch but did not like the way it bent around corners. So he cut the 1/2 inche to 3/8 inche using a hand held tape cutter. Neat tool. That was better but not good enough for him sSo he cut a 1/16 off and that made corners that suited him. So I just stood around as he put tape on. Took tape off moved it here and recurred it there. 30 minutes later he was gone and I was $50 lighter and grinning from ear to ear.
i would be close estimating he used 30 feet of tape including the tear offs. I believe the brand was something like " Luch, Luche. I need to spend some time researching it. I don't particularly find myself to excited over the reflected light color which is a semi bright gold.
My color of reflective choice would be bright white or silver much like 3M offers and my choice of widths would be 5/16 or 3/8 inch in black daytime color.
If anyone wants any more detailed data email me and I will try to help you out...
