• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

My spyder finally left me strandsd along the roadside

I would replace the "Walmart" thermostat housing also:

Hi Doc, is there another source available for the housing or did you just replace it with the BRP part again? Thanks for the heads up.

I have been out of the loop myself. Remember that you do have my numbers, and that I do have a trailer. If anything like that ever happens again and you need, give me a call. Our prayers are with you and your family, I know how hard it is to watch someone suffer through that awful disease. I am also hoping that you are on the road again soon. Now that the warm weather is here, we will have to have you and Nancy over for a BBQ. See ya soon.

Just sayin'............

It's beginning to sound like ALL rubber and plastic parts need to be replaced at some point. Maybe 5 years or 50,000 miles. Just to be safe. I hate the idea of walking!
ALL rubber & plastic? :yikes: Isn't that tantamount to a complete trade-up to a new Spyder?

As I remember my dad saying about 60 years ago... "The only way to fix that car is to jack up the radiator cap and run a new one under it, then let the cap back down." O' course, that was back when a car was only good for about 50,000 miles. And this Spyder has 84,000!

Went with BRP part, original failed on the first run (128+ miles/hour) on the Salt Flats 2012 (http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/...onneville-2012&p=510538&viewfull=1#post510538 ). Salt Lake City High Adventure Power Sports & Marine and Gary save me twice (2010 and 2012 :firstplace:).
There is another SL ryder who is trying to build this part from metal...no reply.

I got my Spyder back together today and all seems well now. Since my problems started about 3 weeks ago with coolant problems I have replaced the reservoir that was leaking, the connector (mixing chamber) that was leaking, thermostat housing that was not leaking but replaced it "just in case" and the return throttle cable that was broken. The hoses all seemed in good shape with no checks or cracking and still very pliable. We went for about 130 mile ride today and saw no leaks. What a relief!!:thumbup::clap:

The thermostat housing is a $26 part; for the bike's age, mileage and previous problems- is just "preventive" part replacement. Now you're good to go for another 80K miles
