There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. MY SPYDER DOWNFALL!

On March 3, 2008, I went to the San Antonio Motorcycle show. There was this huge trailer in the parking lot with a lot of funny looking scoots parked near it. I went over and said to this BRP fellow "What are those?

He explained they were the new trike from BRP and these are demos. "Would you like to ride one?" I said "Yes" and this was a big mistake. After about a 7-8 mile ride with a group of Spyders, I thought, Hmmm, I could live with this except the sporty seating is not the best for my back.

Then BRP comes out with the RT....I tried to resist, but....resistance is futile.

Wonder what would have happened to me if I was at a place where they had test drives. I saw the picture in a cycle magazine the year before they were available and showed it to a lot of people saying I got to have one of these. Put $1000 down with the dealer in December 2007 and in June 2008 both of us had the first Spyders to hit AK. I'm now on number 3.

That Spyder bug really is contagious.

Resistance is not futile...It's voltage divided by current!
Whoops! I stand corrected...resistance IS futile if <1 ohm!
Yeah I know, there's one in every crowd.:D

My :spyder2: down fall was getting a brochure in the mail from BRP even when they were not even out yet and to make things worse no bike licence and being offered a test drive and not even being able to test ride one ,that made me want one even more :gaah::gaah::gaah: Then getting my bike licence and taking an RT for a test ride and well the rest is history now as my avitar now shows:ani29: RTs SE5 Oh... I am hooked:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I got bit on a Sunday morning the week before Memorial Day Weekend 2010. It was 0430 and I was waiting for a Formula 1 race to start, when this commercial came on showing these cool looking trikes. I had been tossing the notion of getting back on a Motorcycle for a long time, but concerns about my back kept me from doing it. I looked at this thing and said "That's it!" While the race was on I hopped on the laptop and started researching, found a local dealer, made the call, set up a test ride for the following Saturday, and walked out THAT DAY with our RSS!

Then a little over a month later, while I was getting the back rest installed, I was waiting in the show room when something told me to look over to the left, and there was 14! I was drawn to her like a Moth to a flame. And the rest, as they say, is history.

It's kind of cool to hear how folks came to get their Spyders. Let's keep this thing going (that is, if y'all want to! :D)

I got bit when I first read about the Spyder in a Fred Rau column in MCN. He was talking about how BRP wanted him to ride one to Americade, but he had no desire to ride a trike. They loaned one to him to ride for a couple of weeks and he & his wife then agreed to ride one at Americade. They apparently fell in love with the Spyder & being one who respects Freds opinion, I guess I must have filed that piece of information away. (I hadn't yet realized I'd been bit)

A few days after reading that article, my wife tells me she wants to sell her scooter ('09 Honda Silverwing with ABS) & I said 'Yes!". She then said she wanted a trike instead & I said "NOOOOOOO!!!". I then remembered Fred's column & suggested we take a look at a Spyder. Went to the dealer & bought one. Had never seen them before that visit. This was in June of 2009. We bought a new yellow '08 GS, the last '08 the dealer had.

It wasn't long before I was thinking I might be interested in one for myself if we could work out the lousy seating and lack of storage. I was riding a GL1800A Goldwing, so was accustomed to something a little plusher. Then in September I heard about the upcoming RT. Well, that looked like an offspring between a Spyder and a Goldwing! How could I refuse? I ordered an RT & trailer together and got the leather jacket.

Still have the Goldwing & still ride it occasionally, but the RT has my attention now.

Mark, it seems that when I go to the barn to get my trike, I seem to jump on the RT and leave the Motor Trike sit. I have not ridden it in three weeks. I think I will alternate weeks on them. ha ha

Couple of years ago I saw the RS/GS at the bike show in Toronto, and found them interesting.

Last year I saw the RT and really liked them, but having a bike, did not think my wife would agree to a 2nd expensive toy.

Getting older, we are looking at getting something to drive around Canada to see the east and west coast, we were talking about a small safe car like a mini for the 2 of us, and I kinda suggested we could look at a Kaw. Concours to tour.

So we were watching the playoffs this year and my Boss/Wife went, after seeing the Can-Am commercial, would you consider a Can-Am for us to tour Canada?

Yea, but its a lot more then a Concours!
Did a lot more talking about it. She went, lets go to a dealer and look around.

So looked around, found a new silver RT, asked her opinion.
She went; "cool, get a custom license plate for it, BOMUR".
So of to the dealer we went, and I/WE are getting it next Tuesday.:shemademe_smilie:
AND she is going to get her license, so she can also ride it.

Life is to short and precious and taking THREE YEARS to make a decision
is not in my Play Book....Good luck...:gaah:...

Freebob...:doorag:

I tried a GW trike and almost put the guys trike in the ditch! Didn't have enough muscle to get it around a hill corner going really slow. Saw the add for the :spyder2: in the Local Ad Tracker and totally BITTEN!!! Got the RS SE5 in 09 then really bitten even deeper got the 2010 RT SE PE 0514. Can't let go the RS to much fun on really twisty roads but the RT is much more comfortable for longer trips. AND it came( was used) RED!!!! with the lightening blades by Danny Farris ( what started the Spyderfest Special :spyder2:'s) ( It was Black) Then had to get the trailer painted red to match the RT and the RS. DONE AND DONE. Named the RT" My Volvo" and the RS "My Baby Corvette".

I got bitten in 2008 when I saw the RS (GS then) for the first time (I still think it is the best looking Spyder) but the poison from the bite didn't settle in until 2010 when the RT came out. Comfort over looks won me over. I bought a leftover 2010 RT early this spring and LOVE it.

Gets better every day. I rYde to work every day that I can. And the best thing is my wife loves it too. One of the best purchases we have ever made.

I thought I would save money on gas versus driving the truck, but since I always take the EXTRA LONG way home on the Spyder, I am not sure that I will see a penny of savings...nojoke But who cares!!!

Hoohed too

I got hooked:bowdown: back when I first see one up in Minnesota my brother and I went for a morning bike ride stopped to eat and there it was:shocked: I said look a Snowmobile on steroids. The very large man driving it was left behind by his bike riding buddies but when he got on it and dropped the clutch he smoked:yikes: the back tire all the way down the street. I told my wife later it would be great if they made one for touring the out came the RT. I still ride the 2 wheels but I will have an RT in the near furture.
