Got away just before 5AM in wonderful clear weather (it's been monsooning here for weeks...). A little fresh at +48F (I added the plus because we do see -48 here, but I'm not usually on the Spyder).
Got across the border north of Scobey MT by 10AM with a nice tail wind and zero traffic all the way. Grabbed a quick taco for lunch in Circle MT (apparently a big cruiser/biker locale from the local traffic) and was in Miles City by 3. Lots of riders out, but only saw 1 other Spyder all day.
Only just under 500 miles, but no point pushing too hard on day 1, so am holed up in a motel in walking distance to a Chinese restaurant. Life is good!
Going to end up around Laramie or Rawlins tomorrow (Sunday) and maybe swing through Woody Hole CO to visit Hunter S Thompson's stomping grounds before seeing Durango on Monday night.
