• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

My RTL has chrome handlebars that I want to wrap... Any advice?

The PO of my new-to-me 2017 RTL added a few great mods, but one that I need to deal with is the chrome handlebar cover. Chrome is not a favourite colour of mine and the glare off of it is annoying.

Unlike some covers I've seen on the 'net, this one's bolt holes are actually bolted in rather than just around the bolts.

It must be really well glued on because I unbolted the four centre handlebar bolts, but I cannot budge the chrome cover.

So my work-around is to cover it with a matte black 3M wrap I found on Amazon. But before I start, I'm wondering if anyone else has advice on how to do a wrap over the bars?

Thanks,
Rod

Well :popcorn:that tape liable to leave some goo residue or worse when exposed to much direct sunlight & heat. Might not like , maybe attempt something between surface & the tape:dontknow:

Ask for help at a local bike shop. As in something you pedal. Ram's horn handlebars almost always have tape and they get good at neatly replacing it.

Just a quick update. I've put on a 3M 1080 Matte Black Air-Release Vinyl Wrap Roll (1.1ft x 5ft) that I found on Amazon. It worked ok but there are a few wrinkles because of the handlebar's shape that I'll have to live with. As they used to say about some cars I've had, they're 20-20 -- good from 20 feet away and 20 miles an hour... but at least I don't have to see the chrome now. I also tried a black bicycle tape wrap but that looked really bad because of it's narrowness.

There were also chrome plates behind the aux gauges that were a simple removal.

YMMV

Rod.....sounds to me that you may have the Tri-axis bars...the chrome ones. just a thought

I wish I did have the trip-axis bars but I don't think so -- although I've never seen one and the Can-Am website hasn't any decent photos. I see in your equipment list that you do. Do you have a photo you could share?

Thanks!

Yeah, that didn't work either! :sour:

When you're adding a reply, go down past the text field on the '+ Reply to Thread' page or 'Go Advanced' from the bottom Right of the 'Quick Reply' screen until you get to the 'Additional Options' field; then go down further to 'Attachments', where you need to select 'Manage Attachments'. Then on the new page that comes up, select 'Upload Files from your Computer'; choose your pic files from wherever they may be, and select them so their address appears alongside 'Upload Files'; & then look down at the bottom right of that selection box, where you'll need to click on 'Upload' & then wait while your device processes the request and eventually your pic/image address will disappear from the 'upload' box and appear further down the page in the space just above the acceptable file types & sizes listing. Once it's appeared there, you can either add another image (only please, no more than 6 to each post! ;) ) or if you're done, simply 'close' that page (button right down the bottom) and go back to the '+ Reply to Thread' page or 'Go Advanced' page, where it'll now show your attachments under 'Manage Attachments' and you can submit/save the post &/oe add/edit any text. Once posted, the images may well (actually should!) appear as thumbnails, but that means ANYONE can click on the thumbnail/s and the software will automatically enlarge them and size them to fit on their screen, whether it's a tiny phone screen or a multi-monitor wall sized display! If they don't appear as thumbnails in your new post, or if you load them as embedded images, then often whatever image readers see, however tiny or large and spilling over their display is all that they'll ever get, and that may not be anywhere near as clear or completely visible on their different sized screen/monitor as it is on yours! :banghead: Thumbnails mean EVERYONE can see them; anything else, it's the luck of the draw/their monitor that they can even open your post! :gaah:

Drop me a PM if you need more of a hand in getting these pics/images to load.
