Here is the route im taking to Durango and yes there are a lot of stops on the way :yes:. I will be keeping a log of all the stops and I will also take many photos of this trip and write a little blog about here on this thread. I am leaving on Tuesday June 12th and will be in Durango on the following Tuesday. I was suppose to go to Cuba and get some work done on the bike but because of a few medical glitches I could not leave today. I am going to try and hit every National Park on my way down and the way back home, that's the plan. If anyone wants to meet me along the way I will have the pc with me send me a msg and I can get in touch with you.new route to owners event.jpg Total mileage says 7209km but im guessing because there will be lots of sight seeing should be close to 8500km total. See you all in Colorado drive safe and have fun.

Looks like a great ryde. look forward to your posts along the way. Lots of great scenery in your path!
We will also be seeing monument valley and four corners on our roundabout way to Durango.
Safe travels to you!

Thanks Spyderbirds, well its not looking good here for the first couple days of riding. We got hammered last night with hail and just south of me they got about 3 inches of snow and its right where im heading in the Rockies of southern Alberta. The rt limited is loaded and ready to go got the heated vest ready and I will be wearing my thermal undies:yikes: to keep the chill to a minimum. Its a good thing these bikes are warm because I will not be complaining about the heat. I will later today post pictures of my trailer set-up I did for long distance riding, I think its going to work out great.

That looks like a fantastic trip!!
I've only a week, so I'm leaving on the 16th from Saskatoon and making the quickest time I can (through MT and WY) to and from Durango, leaving me 3.5 days for riding there before I head home on Friday. See you there.

Safe travels!

The Rt is loaded and ready to hit the road just have a few medical appointments Monday and all should be good to go. Here are a few shots of the bike.IMGP0090.jpgIMGP0089.jpgIMGP0088.jpgIMGP0087.jpg I had the fuel tank brackets custom made at a metal fab shop, 80 bucks for both and they work great. I actually polished all the aluminum on the trailer, it looks like chrome its so bright. Took about 10 hours to get the trailer looking half decent it was oxidized pretty bad.

It looks like you're taking the 89 > 160 from I-15. Map a little small for these foggy eyes. Thats my route too. What is your schedule?

FYI: there's a wild forest fire between K & L on your destinations for your map. Probably won't be a problem next week tho.

Hi Desert Spyder I dont really have a set route although the map says that I do. I am sitting in Twin Falls Idaho tonight, going to Salt Lake City tomorrow june 14th and will be spending the night there. I need to get a new set of riding boots. Today was a ride with a little of every thing thrown in. Major heavy rain in the morning coming out of Kalispell with a bit of hail, it was 10 degrees when I left now its 28 degrees what a day. I wanted to stop and take a few shots today but all you would see is rain and we all know what that looks like. Where are you coming from maybe we can meet up, i would like to hit Zion and Bryce Canyon and a few other parks while im here.

Burrr!!! that sounds cold....10 degrees...28 degrees.....burrrrr....we
are sitting here and it's been 95 degrees...we're looking forward to cooler weather in Durango...I'll look for you....

I'm between Las Vegas and LA. Leaving Tuesday, check the sights around LV, Hoover Dam, etc. staying in St. George, UT that evening. Wednesday take the 89, going by Lake Powell , 4 Corners, and oh yeah, Durango.

Have Reda, will travel!

Hi everyone just a little report on my first 2 days on the road.

Day one----Sherwood Park, Ab to Waterton National Park(for lunch) then on to Kalispell Montana for the night. Get this I was half an hour early for lunch at the restaurant so they were still serving breakfast. I ordered french toast with a slice of ham and a chocolate milk. I didn't look at the price it is what I wanted, when the waitress brought the bill to me I almost fell out of the booth I was sitting in. At the bottom it said 24.00 dollars:yikes::yikes::yikes: you are not reading this wrong, total ingredients 1 and a half slices of bread .25 cents, 1 egg .25 cents, 1 little slice of ham .50 cents and maybe .50 cents of milk. I said no wonder no one is eating here with these prices I got a dirty look :roflblack:. Drive was pretty nice up until about an hour out of Kalispell when it started to rain. I wanted to go over the Road to the Sun but the pass is still closed due to fresh snow this last week. So I went around the very south end of the park, sorry no photos it was a bit cloudy.

Day 2 Kalispell to Idaho Falls, it was a morning from H E double hockey sticks. Man did it rain hard and for a long time, I was considering pulling over but this is a Spyder Rt not a Harley:roflblack::roflblack:, slow and steady won that race. Around noon I made it to the I 90 and stopped for lunch. Ran into a bunch of Harley riders from Nebraska and they started to ask questions about the rt. It was all good we had some good laughs as to why I was traveling alone and there was 5 of them. When one of the guys started in on the other guy about complaining about every thing, the guy I was talking to said I see why you travel alone lol. The wind in the afternoon was crazy on the I 15 gusting up to 40 miles an hour.

The rt is running great pulling the trailer, average about 125 miles per tank. Today day 3 was from Idaho Falls to Provo Utah. The sun is out and it is hot it feels good on the face. I will try and post some pics tomorrow. Heading to Zion for 3 days.

Good one spyderrock! It's still wet and cool up north so save me some of that hot sunny stuff. I hit the road on Saturday.

just an update im sitting im sitting in Zion National Park, getting here was a bit of fun. I turned off the I 15 to go to Cedar Breaks National Monument. The incline was 13% and there was a lot of construction up on the pass. I only had half a tank of fuel and the bike stalled out quite a few times going up the hill. Im not sure if it was the incline maybe not enough fuel in the tank not sure it was like it was suffering to get fuel. Got over the pass and headed down to Zion from the east side. It is very hot here around 100 degrees by noon. I do have photos to load im not on my pc when i get the photos loaded I will post them here should be tonight. Off to Bryce Canyon today then back to Zion. I didn't leave enough time to go up and over to Capitol Reef National park so im heading south to Page Arizona then to Monument Valley then to Four Corners, Mesa Verde And on to Durango.

Nice

Keep blog coming.. I am ryding along with you in my memory..last year visited Zion, Bryce and other areas mentioned...awesome sites and ryding..keep hiway to Sun on your list!! Ryde safe and thanks for sharing.

Good one spyderrock! I thought we had wind back home on the prairies, but Casper to Rawlins today was pretty fierce! But, there's no bugs on my windshield ;-)

Safe travels. I should be in Durango tomorrow.

Rod.

Hey everyone a bit more on the trip to Durango.

I spent 3 days in Zion National Park, I love this park it is a very special place here are a few photos.

IMGP0113.jpgIMGP0109.jpgIMGP0115.jpg The picture in the middle is a window in the 1.1 mile long tunnel. It was nice to drive through there it was very cool as soon as you got into the canyon it was like riding in a blast furnace.

Left Zion on Monday and rode to Cortez, the ride from Page Arizona into Monument valley was by far the worst ride ever. The wind was horrible and its not snow blowing across the road its sand and it hurts the face. Well I needed a good face scrubbing anyway. The heat was pretty intense for a canuk low 90s and thats hot for us. The ride up to Monument Valley was just as bad maybe a bit worse but it was still a lot of fun, soak the bandana in ice water and rapped it around my face, it was bone dry in less than 2 miles so much for that idea.
IMGP0151.jpgIMGP0152.jpg From Monument Valley to Four Corners was still windy and hot and there is no place to hide from the heat on a bike, no trees no old sheds to go hide in nothing. Would i do this over again in a heart beat lol. Sitting in Cortex of to Durango in the AM. I will upload more photos and make an album.
