• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

My riding jacket was looking like an Army uniform

I may not get all of the details right but my understanding is that the Army dress blues have a dark navy colored jacket and light blue pants because way back in the day of the Cavalry, soldiers would always wear their pants but not always the jacket. The jacket would be stored in their pack out of the sun and this would cause the pants to fade well before the jackets. Keeping with that tradition the Army dress blue uniform has stayed with the dark blue/light blue combo. Well I have a Can-Am Cavalier jacket that I got in December of 2013 and I have worn it for nearly 70,000 miles of adventures. This jacket is awesome and it is advertised to do just about everything but ride the Spyder for you and it came with a big warranty too, so when I realized that it was almost completely faded I went to my dealer to inquire about a warranty replacement. He took pictures and sent them off to BRP and they just approved the replacement. So bye-bye to my faded jacket and hello to a new dark black one that I can wear out all over again. Here is a picture of a new Cavalier jacket and 2 of mine before it was returned to BRP.

Yep, that hot Vegas sun can fade anything.

No more dress blues, we have a ASU's now, all the same color jacket and pants.

That's funny, I just looked up the ASU and the pants are still that weird light blue and the jacket dark blue.

Meant to say the same color as the old dress blue. But of course there are subtle changes that make you have to buy a new set, $1,000. Thank goodness I retired last month before the mandatory wear date.

Thanks, it has changed too much for me over the 24 years. As soon as they said we couldnt yell and cus at the troops, I knew it was time. And as the deployments stopped, we started turning back into a garrison force. Cutting grass and painting rocks again.

Army ASU

You are correct. Cavalry Soldiers would roll their jackets inside out and attach them to the back of their saddle and the sun would bleach out the pants.

I noticed the fading on the Alaska trip. I'd heard of that happening with certain types of fabrics. If the new one is also warranted, you may never have to buy another jacket!

I like the idea of never having to buy another jacket again but I think I'll be ready for a new look after this one. :roflblack:

NEW CAN-AM CALIBER JACKET

Somebody posted the other day about Amazon having the Can-am Caliber jacket for $77.99 so I ordered one since I needed a new jacket anyway, I received It a couple of days ago and It Is a super jacket, I think It lists for over $200.00 what a deal..

Mir lists for way over $200 so you got s great deal. They were on EBay for $100 and that was a good deal. I think they have changed the jacket in 2016 or maybe they cancelled it.

Les, I'm afraid I will lose it since I don't recognize it either.
