My replacement ride.

Got my Spyder back Friday, rode it home and there it will sit. Here is my replacement to get me by. A 2001 Suzuki TL1000S.

those bikes are awsome, its too bad they got a bad rap with the tank slap issue when they came out, if you are in to twins they are great.

Yes, love the sport V's. My first was a '98 TLR. Not to many of them left. Traded in a perfectly good SV1KS before this mess all got started. Kinda suprised I found this TLS. Rather good shape, a little neglected, came with 2Bros carbon cans...I hope they hold together

Hmm...one of the front wheels is missing! :yikes:

HA! I'm soooooo funny (in my own head). I hope things work out well for you.

Not sure yet.

I understand your frustration as I've been following your threads for some time. What type of assurance do you have from BRP that all is good? Are you upset enough that you're considering selling the bike, or are you simply afraid to ride it because you don't want to see error messages anymore?

We're all here to help and lend support but your case is certainly one of the more severe that I've seen.

I truly hope all your problems are behind you and you can develop an affinity for the Spyder again. Not until you can ride it without incident will you trust it...

Enjoy your new ride but don't give up on the Spyder. I am soooo hoping that BRP got it right for you and it won't give you any more problems. You've been through enough and you deserve some nice, sunny days to go out on the Spyder.

Take care,

BC

All I can say for now is that I was ruined for motorcycles with this machine. Although I still have a craving for leaning a sportbike, this machine really provides some fun interaction w/o the scare of 2 wheels, with a very useful side, too. You all know, so I don't need to go on about it. The problem is this has been going on since OCT '08 and we are sick of it. This goes beyond the typical "drop in value" or "poor return investment" experienced by buying a motorcyle or a boat. My machine is one of the reasons a KBB value drops so much for the rest of you. Think about it...would you feel comfortable buying a used Spyder? Talk about the old saying buying someone else's problem. I know many of you are tired of some of the questions that guy NATER has posted, but it's a realistic problem for me. I'm tired of these repeat returns to the dealer only to hear, we can't find anything. The open road experience BRP promotes is a lie to me, I can barely stand the worry of just riding it to work or on days my dealer is closed. This time they had it for 4 weeks straight and all the parts failed. I left in disgust and got a call that it started working again, the tech turned the key on and off several times and it all cleared. THAT'S NOT A FIX!...I have had this happen to me as well, I can turn a key on/off several times too. The problem has yet to be found and we are tired of being a guinea pig, especially for what this thing cost.

It sucks that you have had so many problems w/ the Spyder.....so many are rock solid/carefree machines, most are in fact. All I can figure is your machine has a computer glitch that keeps rearing it's ugly head. There must be a tech out there that can isolate your problem/s and make it all good - don't give up the Roadster just yet - make some more noise to BRP - they need to fix your machine -- it is still in warrenty by all times limits.

Geez...I thought they had found the problems and fixed them...did they try that grounding thing that Lamont and others have discussed? Many have said that this solution corrected a lot of the 'erratic' electrical issues that some of the bikes were having.

We talked about that, but it's considered to be for the SE5.

Hang tough, my friend, and keep pursuing that lemon law relief. For the most part Spyders have been good machines. Since you have also become spoiled, like many of the rest of us that still enjoy bikes, but delight in the safety and comfort of the Spyder, it would be nice to see you get a good, new one, without problems. Keeping our fingers crossed for you!
