There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. My Phantom's VIN.....

So I found this comment in the for sale section....
It must have the correct VIN to be an original Phantom:

BRP designated the model of the Phantom as A19N. This will be shown on the VIN# tag on the right side of the swingarm. If it shows any other model designation, it is a conversion. Each model has sequential digits that start at 000001, so an A19N model with S/N 000621 would be the 621st Phantom produced.

And this was my response / question.....

Not that I doubt your credentials to offer up this info. however I can't seem to find anything to support it. I have recently purchased a 2009 Can Am Phantom and I'd like to know if it was a dealer conversion or an actual Limited Edition. I've done some research and am unable to decipher my entire VIN: 2BXJALA109V000195

2=Country
B=Manufacturer
X=Vehicle Type or Manufacturing Division
JALA1=Contains entire specs. of vehicle
0=DOT Check #
9=Year 2009
V=Assembly Plant
000195=Production Number

If what you're saying about the A19N in the VIN showing that it is an actual Phantom and not a dealer conversion, then there seems to be a digit missing as the A19N would fit into my VIN where the A109V is located. "A1" being part of the vehicle spec. portion, "-"missing DOT Check #, "9" being the year, and "N" being the assembly plant.

Was there only one Can Am plant that produced the Phantom? If so, you're saying it was only produced in plant "N", which plant is that? And which plant is "V". Also, do you know what the "JALA1" breaks down into for my VIN.

Please don't take my questions as argumentative, I am just trying to get the actual info. and I don't just tend to take someones word for it unless I know they are truly qualified to give said statement. Thanks!!

Can any of you shed some light on this for me? I understand that the "For Sale" section was not the correct place to ask this question, so I copied it to here.....

Hmmmmm.....interesting. Guess the only way to know for sure is to call BRP with my VIN and ask them, right?

My biggest problem is that we've bought a used Spyder from a Harley dealer......they don't know what they've got and we aren't knowledgeable enough to know either. We just know it looks wicked sexy and I love it! But I'd still love to know what I've got on my hands.

...and that's what matters the most; right? :2thumbs:
Following the paperwork can sometimes be a real challenge, but you are right of course; it pays to know what you've got! :thumbup:

Thanks guys! I just sent an email to the dealership and asked for the info. We'll know shortly exactly what we have. ;)

Well...I would but when I squat down my vision gets a little fuzzy and I can't quite see from Suffolk, VA to Chadds Ford, PA. LOL! :roflblack:

The bike is still at the Harley dealer we bought it from on eBay. I just liked the look of it in the pics and bought it. Then I found out afterwards that it was a Phantom. Now I'd like to know if it's a dealer conversion or a true limited edition Phantom.

Just FYI--- it won't make any difference on the value of the Spyder whether it's a real phantom or not.....

Just got an email back from the Harley dealer....

It's a true limited edition Phantom! Model no. A19N #195! Woot!

He sent me a pic of the VIN plate.

:ohyea:

Not that it would have made me love it any less....but it does give me a secret little warm feeling to know that my new Spyder is a true Phantom and not a dealer conversion. :yes:

Thanks everyone for all the help!:thumbup:
