• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

My other hobby.

All those handguns are fine, and I think everyone ought to have one or more and know how to use them. But if you want some real fun try some machineguns and suppressors. How about M-14. MG-34, suppressed Thompson, suppressed 500 S+W, M16? Just thought I'd spice it up a bit.

Had an M14 in Nam then they took it away and gave me the Mattell M15. I managed to get the 14 back. Shot the M60, the old .50 and the mini gun. Love the sound of the Vulcan 20mm. But my favorite of all time for reliability and accuracy is the M1 carbine.

Loved the 14, But one of the 3 stooges thought we were better off with a 16. Nothing like a jammed gun, With green tracers coming your way.:ohyea:

All the target practice is probably a great idea-- never know when you'll be attacked by a life-sized 1 dimensional paper man.... :roflblack:

I was gonna take Karate classes and learn to break boards, but then pondered-- when was the last time I was attacked by a tree? :D

Enjoy!

It has to do with muscle memory. If you do not know the weapon well it may be about as usefull as a wet loaf of bread if it is needed for real. Under stress you will perform WAY better if you have practised enough to make the mechanics second nature. It is far more than marksmanship, as important as that is. A person who is proficient with their firearm is not as likely to be fumbling with a safety or a magazine AND MORE IMPORTANLY will be FAR less likely to have a accidental discharge. If you own a gun for protection it is irresponsable to not practice enough to stay competent with it.
The concept is well understood for performace under stress. No different that practicing your emergency swearving and braking on a bike from time to time. Capiche?:D

:agree:
The real test of accuracy is how well you hit the target [with out reloading] when the target is shooting back at you.:D:D

True enough but they take a dim view of having shootouts for practise.
So the best a civilian can do is to become well versed in the weapons functions and capibilitys. Certainly better than buying a gun, loading it and throwing it the glove box or night stand till something goes bump in the night:yikes: You would be better not having it IMO.

Excellent points. I don't carry a weapon (other than my rapier wit:joke:) but if I did this I would remember this post,

Dan,
You are so funny. I am not really worried about being attacked by paper men. I just enjoy shooting and would like to be proficient at it. It is something I feel I have a little bit of natural ability at and would like to hone in on it.

Also, as strange as this may sound. This has been a great group meeting for the ladies at my church. Thursday night is ladies night at the range and a lot of my women friends from church are starting to come there with me. We call it "Girls, Guns, and God" LOL:D

I think I'll just keep some matches or a lighter nearby in case I'm attacked by the 1 dimensional paper man. Dang-- another thing to keep me awake at night!:roflblack:

CCW for us...

Mine... a Glock 23 .40 cal and for Kim... a Ruger LCP .380... With us at all times.. Using the old American Express Adage..."Don't leave home without it"... Len

a little off topic- sorry

Speaking of keeping you awake at night-

...Did you hear about the dyslexic agnostic insomniac?

...he lies awake at night wondering if there IS a Dog...:joke:

Last night's Girl's, Gun's and God. I do believe I am getting better. These two targets are photo's from a couple of guys at work that made them for me. One even added a beard to get the "terrorist" look. LOL Anyway they were made on regular size photo copy paper. I used a measuring tape and a dollar bill to give perspective of my groupings.
