I have owned a Glock 19 9mm handgun for about 10 or 11 years and in all that time have only gone shooting a handful of times. Well, this year I have decided to spend some time really doing some shooting. Here are some photos from my last 3 outings.

This last photo I also shot my Dad's Rugar P85. Surprisingly, I had better groupings with the Rugar than my Glock. The top two are the Rugar at 15 ft and 20 ft and the bottom two are the Glock at 15 ft and 20 ft.

The first two were larger targets than the ones in the bottom photo. My goal for my next outing is to use the smaller targets and keep all the shots in the black.

I think I need to shoot the Rugar a few more times before I can make that decision. I'll let you know though.

I would shoot everything you can get your hands on before you buy, there are a huge amount of variables to consider. I have owned plenty of hand guns and shot the **** out of them. glocks are the gold standard of average.

If you have a little more cabbage buy a h&k 9mm compact like I rock now, shot a small child sized target at 300 yards only took 4 shots to do it,my cold shot was only 4 feet low and a foot left.

I also have that FN fiveSeven which is great for double tap stuff.

Anyone that wants to come up/over can shoot all the randomness they can get ammo for and have a place to stay and shoot.

A ruger 95dc was the first 9mm I owned, was 245 out the door brand new, is still hard to beat for the price.

I think I would like to rent a revolver of some type to try next. Last week I shot my friend's Berretta, not sure which model. I really liked the feel of that gun too. I would love to try many different guns and get proficient at them as well. You never know Seth, a trip to MN late this summer just may be in the cards.

Here's one you really should consider also. It shoots .45 Long Colt ammo and a variety of .410 ammo, birdshot, buckshot, and the newly developed .410 personal defense ammo. Recoil is not bad and it is a truly awesome personal defense weapon!

Oddly, I just looked at a Ruger LCP .380 with laser today. I have a Ruger PT22 that I carry in an ankle holster. Looking for a lighter pocket gun. My P27 Glock is nice but a little heavier.

pps: Yeah, my bad. I was thinking about the LCP. Geeesh, it's h _ _ l getting old. I forgot to add, the wife has a Ruger (yeah, I'm right this time) .357 Security Six. I bought it for her in 1980 before I left on assignment to the UK.

I've been carrying the LCP for a year or so now, it's a nice piece. Fits well in a pocket with a non imprint holster sleeve, I've put a few hundred rounds through it with no issues. It's a little bit bigger than the .32 Seecamp that has been my favorite for years, but it's nice to have a little extra punch.......

The guy at the gun dealer has one and his has a clip on it so he can clip it in his pocket or boot. I don't think it would be comfortable to clip it inside the boot. My vest has a gun pocket in it, I tried my buddy's taurus 40 in the pocket, not bad. Could see a little outline, not much. Thanks for the input on the LCP. I agree with the extra punch.

All those handguns are fine, and I think everyone ought to have one or more and know how to use them. But if you want some real fun try some machineguns and suppressors. How about M-14. MG-34, suppressed Thompson, suppressed 500 S+W, M16? Just thought I'd spice it up a bit.

Waiting for the dang war to be over so I can stock up on ammos again. Need to get back above 10,000 rd. reserve again. Thank goodness for my stock piled reloading supplies.

For the sake of experience I would love to at least shoot many of these guns. The range master is supposed to let us shoot his AR15 when it gets back from repair. I probably would never feel a need to own one but sure do appreciate them.

My kid is having 'fun' in SWCC training with 170,000 rounds...... I'm jealous, I think....

SWCC Training

SWCC training is 22 weeks long. This highly-demanding physical and mental training consists of 2 weeks of Indoctrination (administrative and physical preparation), followed by 8 weeks of Basic Crewman Training (BCT), and 12 weeks of advanced Crewman Qualification Training (CQT).

By the end of training, students will have:

Traveled 3200 nautical miles underway (900 at night)
Shot 170,000 rounds of ammunition
Swum 100 miles
Run 400 miles
Done 20,000 pushups
