• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

My opinion - New 2014 RTS

Ok...I have had the Spyder for a couple of weeks now and have ridden a handful of times (Ohio weather ). This machine is a blast to ride. Compared to a traditional motorcycle, the Spyder is much more comfortable and easy to operate (I have the semi-auto). The power is more than enough and shifting is seamless and very smooth (I really like not having to throttle-down while shifting). The automatic downshifting is very smooth too and seems to always be in the right gear if you need to accelerate before coming to a complete stop. The heated grips make riding in cold temps very comfortable and sometimes even get too hot even on the "low" setting. Having only ridden 2-wheelers, I could never have imagined how useful it would be to have a reverse gear! Now I'm sold...all large bikes should have a reverse gear standard!! As others on this site have mentioned, there is definitely a learning curve when it comes to turning. To me, it feels like if you turn sharp enough (normal speeds for the conditions) you will tip over. Probably just a result of previous motorcycle experience and the urge to lean! Turning is becoming easier, but I still have a ways to go!! My other observation (can't decide if I like it or not) is the attention this thing gets! Kids stare, parents point for the kids to stare, drivers stare, walkers stare, bikers stare....I even had two strangers in cars wave at me yesterday!! Pretty funny!!! Just my two cents so far. Happy riding!!:D

Welcome to the "hey look at that" club, :roflblack::roflblack:, it gets better (or worse) because now when you stop for gas or lunch or to run in to a store, people will stop you and ask a half dozen different question, like "can you take that in the water?", "Can you steer that thing", "is that legal on the Highway", "is it 4 wheel drive", Etc.

Enjoy the ryde a many of us do, and try to be easy on some of those folks with DUMB questions.

:welcome: It does sound like you have figured out most of the good stuff.

RE: Turning: I use a push pull method on the handlegrips. A light touch is better than hard grabbing. Pretend there are eggs between your hands and the grips--don't break them.

Plant your foot on the "outside" side of the turn. Grab the tank with your knees. Lean slightly into the turn. The "G" forces will seem to go away.

The :spyder2: will stay planted and firm 15 to 20 mph over posted speeds on curves--but I take it a bit easier than that most of the time. I have never fired up the "nanny" when riding twisties. Lucky here, I can ride twisties daily.

I can only imagine the questions that will be asked! So far, I haven't gotten off anywhere to give anyone the chance! Can't wait for my first question!!

I have tried the "push pull" method...it absolutely does help...I just have to remember to use it!! I take the sharper turns very gingerly...the "nanny" is still sleeping...
