• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

My Limp Home Problems?

Were due to a short in the Auto Zone aftermarket License plate light I had installed.
A week ago I had what seemed to be a Over Heat Limp home- Next day It wouldn,t start had blown the 10 Amp DESS-Position, Running, License plate light. One off the wires had come loose from the light itself and shorted!:yikes: I connected the BRP wire to the other wire from the Light which nhad been capped off as I only used one mode.
Fast forward to Today- Cool (70) Cloudy and after about 35 miles all of a sudden- Limp Home and all the other codes to follow.:yikes:
I limp a mile to the airport I was going to and let it cool- do the 3 turn on and off,s- and wait a couple more minutes.
I turn it on and no position or running lights?????
I check the fuses and again the 10 Amp is blown.
Open the License Light and the other wire left had come
loose from the light itself and shorted on medal??
NOW I know what caused the Limp Mode (I caught that Light in the act:yikes:)
So I connect the BRP orange wire real good (Posi-Lock) and just put a empty cap on the other end so it can,t touch anything.
License plate light is not monitored by nanny BUT If It shorts AND blows the 10 Amp Fuse you then DO NOT have Brake/Running lights and the Nanny puts you in (Time Out) the Dreaded Limp Mode!!!!!

I knew there was a reason I bought extra fuses and put a wire crimper and 2 pairs of pliers in the trunk!!:ohyea:

Been there and done that as well. The good thing is I was able to track it down fairly easily, based on the latest thing I had changed on my Spyder.

Glad you were able to get it sorted out.

:spyder2: Had that same problem with the stock light. Took most of the summer and a couple dozen fuses to finally tace it down. I kept the fixture and swaped out the light assembly for a white led bar and haven't had a problem since.:yes::yes:

That is part of the reason I replaced the factory tag light with a Pep Boys factory made LED stop/running light assembly. All I did to the light assy was add a white 3 led strip for a tag light. The 3 led strips are available at JC whitney. No problems since. Ken krb1945
