I rode the last 45 mins of my trip home in the pouring rain testing out the traction control several times. That was the only part of the first annual SpyderQuest rally that did not go well for me.
I arrived late on Wednesday, happens every time I bring my wife along, but there was already a sausage and mushroom pizza ordered. I toured the pavilion and found it to be everything I had hoped for. My wife found that Randy's mixed drinks are quite strong. A quick moonlight ride to Ballston Spa and a king sized bed to get some sleep before the big day.
The set up for the Registration BBQ went very well thanks to many helping hands. Bob, and Steve helped with the cooking, and told lots of good stories. I had plenty of food for everyone, and there were many compliments to the chefs. Farkle Bingo was a roaring success, the 50-50 brought a little over $190.00, and my wife is now known to my fellow NY Spyder Ryders as "Vanna". A full moon ride back to Ballston Spa, and a king sized bed to get sleep for a great ryde in the morning.
After being moderately late for the Friday morning ride, I managed to convince a woman that her honda did not need to back over my right front tire at the gas station. "Vanna" bought half of the clothing that Progressive motorsports had on the shelves, including a new helmet. As an out-rider on the Fort Ticonderoga ride, I got ride like a maniac and it was appreciated by most of my fellow riders. The ride went well, and I met Terry and Glenn. Terry has two spyders, an RS they call "freakshow" and an RT they call "Bad Example". After the ride Glenn, Terry, Bob, and his wife Elaine led "Vanna" and I to Martha's where I got the biggest Black Raspberry Ice cream cone I have ever seen. Another moon lit ride..............well, you know the rest.
I had to get up early for the Whiteface Mountain ride, but that put "Vanna" and I on the spyder with empty roads ahead of us. Aside from crazy "cages" along the way the trip to the mountain was nothing short of amazing. After a quick lunch and a group picture we took the scenic ride over to Lake Placid with Glenn and Terry. After a short walk through the small town we started the ride back toward Lake George. "Vanna" and I had to head directly to Ballston Spa to pack up and head back to McDonough. I was a little sad to be leaving Lake George, but happy to be headed home to my kids.
Sitting in my chair, it is now time to start planning for the next time.................See you there.
