• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. My first post.
Hello everyone. First let me say I love my spyder I am up to 1,500 miles (had to take a month off of riding for kitchen remodel). Mine is a 2011 Orbital Blue :spyder2: RT-S SE5 with com-package. Have had a few little problems, but my dealer here in Beaumont,TX has been great. The bike runs great, after the initial getting use to it rides which it took me till the 600 mile service to get really comfortable.

I now have an annoying issue after riding a half-hour or so the analog tach and speedo start getting off from the LCD display. Last weekend after 50 miles the tach was off from the LCD by 2000 rpm and the speedo was off by 45mph. Called the dealer service manager told me to bring it in and they would hook it up to BUDS. No Codes, they did current LCD updates and sent me on my way, rode for 15 minutes tach went dead for a while. Took it right back service manager and I agreed I will take it in so they can have it for half a day to figure out problem. Anyone seen this on their Spyder? Thanks for any ideas I can pass on to the service guy’s.

I have been reading the posts for a while, you guys have shared a lot of good info with fellow riders. I don’t think the guy’s and gal’s that are happy with their bikes are getting on much because they are too busy riding.
Thanks again.

Yep

Had about 1200 miles on my 2010 RT SE5 and it started what you describe...finally the LCD just went nutso so dealer disconnected and ordered new part...took several weeks to get the new LCD but analog than worked fine...added another 3000 miles..without the LCD...dealer replaced with new and now at over 17000 mi...all is well....my recommendation...replace the LCD...sounds like you have a great dealer...and they are treating the issue right. Welcome to SpyderLovers AND the wonders of Spyder Ryding.:thumbup:

Just had the cluster replaced on my 2011 RTS, due to the same problem. I'd recommend snapping a picture when it happens, so the dealer can see the problem. It will not show up on BUDS. (It slays me, how many idiot technicians think the computer will tell them everything!) The first cluster my dealer used as a replacement booted up blank, so they had to order another. On this one, both the analog tach and the analog speedometer are off, so we will have to go through this again when the fourth cluster comes in. You need to visit your dealer and have him order a new cluster. BTW, your mileage will revert to zero when the cluster is replaced.

We have the same issue

All, Thanks for the update. We have the same issue and now I know what to tell our dealer...I love this site. Everytime I have a question someone else has the same issue and I get my questions answered without posting a thing!:ohyea:

:welcome: and :congrats: on the new ryde.

It looks and sounds like the members have given you some good information. Happy to say I have not had that problem happen to me.

A good dealer is important, and it sounds like you are covered.

Lingering Cluster Problem

Just had the cluster replaced on my 2011 RTS, due to the same problem. I'd recommend snapping a picture when it happens, so the dealer can see the problem. It will not show up on BUDS. I, too, have a cluster problem but it is somewhat different than yours. Mine has to do with the trip computers A and B. If I reset both to zero, the one that is NOT being displayed will begin to count up miles. If I sometime later stop the engine and then restart, the OTHER trip computer will begin to count miles and the original one will stop. Sometimes this switch will happen arbitrarily. The result is that I have to add both A and B to get total milage. My dealer put it on BUDS and nothing came up (note Scotty's quote above) so they are reluctant to replace it:gaah:. They sent the BUDS results to BRP for analysis of the problem. That was 4 weeks ago and I have not heard back from them. I suspect I will just go to the dealer and demand a new cluster.
