There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. MY FEARS HAVE CAUGHT UP WITH ME

My red baby is already giving me problems, all started after 600 (534) mile check-up. Sunday with wife's first ride while returning from DC. Spyder went into limp mode (no warnings flashing) pulled over turned off the engine and tried several time to get it out of 5th gear. Nothing, wife freaking out, wants to know what's wrong, as if I know. Five mins later computer resets Spyder showing no ill effects and gets us home fine. Today, Spyder want shift out of first gear and I repeat same. Spyder runs good and gets me home. Since the check-up I have this issue, and brakes driving me nuts making noise when applied at slow speeds. As if that's not enough I smell gas when sitting on her while riding but, no leaks detected. Friday I will take her to the dealer. I haven't even made my first payment. I know this seems like the worst but, it's a blessing to me. I want all the crazy stuff to happen now and not later when I'm on a long trip somewhere in another state. This will ruin my rides coming up and I was so excited about meeting with my Va. riders in Richmond.:banghead:

gas smell while riding is usually because you filled it up to high.

The other problems, I dont know cause I have the manual shift.

Hope you get things worked out

The gas could be an overfilling. I have found the gas gage bars to be reliably accurate. I stop putting in gas about 1/2 inch below the lowest part of the opening. I don't fill for maximim miles per filling. I did have a little smell of gas the first couple of hundred miles, but no longer. I can't recall how much I was topping out, so I could have been putting in too much. I have never had any disabling shifting issues on our SE5, so I can't help you there. Do you have an SE5 or SM5? That could help others supply some helpful hints.

YES, I HAVE AN SE5

I still love it the same, just need to get issues squared..Thanks

Yah I kind of want to know as well, is it a SE? Also what year 08 or 09?
Please advise.
Thanks in advance
Joe

IT'S AN 09 SE5

It's an 09 SE5, I had read a lot of the posts prior to buying but, my desire to have an auto shift over weighed the negatives as I have to deal with the worst of traffic on I95 (DC area). My little sister just got hers yesterday (Red SE5 with same mods) and I hope she has better luck. I know that the pressure from all the negative press/postings has got to get the attention of BRP sooner or later. Let's hope for sooner. Or it's BBB. ken

Strange how things can change for the worse AFTER a service. I have read a few other posts with similar results. Don't let your love of your Spyder fade. Hang in there. Ryde Safe.

I'm a bit worried now,,, My service is Schuled for Saturday,, I will keep you all posted.. I did ride the spyder 145 miles today, took the afternoon off from work it was so nice and just decided to go where ever the spyder lead me,, It was a GREAT ride, all by myself and no place to go, you gotta love that, oh and how did the spyder run?? GREAT, I was very pleased with the performance, didn't miss a beat, when I wanted R it went in just as the owners manual says, Finding N is easy now that I understand how you do it, I know that may sound funny but after reading over what members have posted on this form I leaned a whole H*&^ of a lot.. Thanks to all..

Joe

PS: Lets just hope the service goes good,, I told them they can have it a couple days.. They are doing the Decembers Service Bulletin as well, changing out a CAM on the front side, CRACKED, 1 inch risers, and a heat sheild, So hopefully they TAKE there TIME and pay attention to the small details.. I'm keeping my fingers crossed..

Bandwagon,

Insist that your dealership fix this problem...you're close enough for rolling thunder in may...we might be able to get a decent size group together for that...your bike has to work!!

THAT'S A FACT

I can not miss Rolling Thunder, it's the main reason I jumped on the Spyder. Semper Fi!!

xpeschon,
I was having similiar problems with my SE5 09 shifting, once it even had my stuck out in traffic. I took it in for the 600 mi service a couple of weeks ago and I have not had a shifting problem since then. I did tell them if it happens again they will fix it!

My dad was (is) a marine and my wife is an army medical doctor...I'm with ya on that!

Good, I'm counting you in...we have to work on getting a group of us...

Oh yeah, do you know of...or does anyone else know of...a particular flag mount from a particular company that will fit our bikes? (and where to mount it?) I see tons of flag mounts for harleys but I'm not sure we have the appropriate 'bars' for them to latch onto...

I gotta have a U.S. flag for that event!
