Clearance

Getting ready to pull the trigger on the Licence plate relacation, but when I sat on the F3 and did some measurements it doesn't look like there is much room. When your riding yours BAM how much clearance do you have for your plate and does your tire ever make contact with the plate?

from the start feb 12 2015

feb 13 2015 all set except exhaust not recived yet
intake

sway bar mods and splash guard removed

rear fender + tire pic

using a modified rs rs-s st st-s rear sport fender

when im only me on it it okay no rubbuing or what else but with the girl friend it was a total no go i put a little more angle on the plate and it was fine il take some more photo for you maybe today

but im facing a problem with the girl friend where to much heavy the rear shock bottom out even sitting in the garage i will order a MAN COIL SPRING to solve this stock is 376 pound spring rate im split by putting on a 571 pound or a 686 pound so there will be no issue even 2 on it hitting a bump at over a 100

stay tuned ;):joke:

i took some photo remember it's with the stock coil spring and will it wil l be replaced in the next week i dont know if your familiar with spring rate the stock spring is arround 375 pound per inch so it took 375 pound to go down 1 inch the total travel of the rear shock coil combo is 5.2 inch

the spring i want to oder will have 686 spring rate so the bike will not even drop 1 inch even with the passenger on it will be over 4 inch of travel left even with 2 people on it (I hope)

first 3 picture unloaded 4 and 5 with 310 pound driver the bike drop 2.5 3 inch so only 2 inch or travel left the space betwen the tire and the license bolt is 1.5 inch so i have to be carefull for now on big bumps there .5 inch of probable contact for now but the last 1 inch of travel there the rubber stoper so it should be fine anyway

next week or the other with the new spring il be riding the bike solo witch maybe .5 of drop and not event a full inch with the girl friend so there will be no more issue or rubbing with that coil before the shock will botom out something else will break
686 pounds =1inch 1372 pounds = 2 inch 2058 pounds =3 inch 2744 ounds =4 inch you see the picture for the full shock to botom out it will need a 3500 pound force .... the stock one need a 1880 pound force to botom it out remember the levrage effect do to the shock not been mounted strait and passenger weight 2 feet behind the shock mounting area

hope that help you out ;)

Bam!

Thanks Bam! Those pics were perfect and I too am very interested in how it works out with the springs. Please keep us up to date with your ride and mods, as I never even considered swapping the spring!

the stock shock is made by sach witch is great the spring is just to soft for me and my agresive ridding thats why a have change the front sway bar and cranked the front fox too ill put photo with the new coil and part number

Side Licence plate bracket?

I am looking at maybe trying to fabricate or find a inexpensive black colored side mounting bracket to see how it would look. Brainstorming right now.. A bracket something like the one below.

next thing i want is the spring to come it's -24 c right now :yikes:
Great video, but what about the horn replacement. Have you replaced the feeble horn yet with something louder? I have both air and standard horns in stock that will be much louder, but I'm having difficulty even finding the horn let alone replacing it. The RT is a piece of cake but this F3??
Help

here comes the final modification to the f3 due to shock bottoming out ive changed the coil spring to a H&R 300120 this spring as a stiffer spring rate than stock and work fine for me the stock pring is 376 pound inch this one is 686 pound inch and some machining as to be done to fit the f3 stock shock but now it's a blast :joke:

stock F3 vs F350

and now how it looks in the final stage

hope you enjoy

Nice . . . .

. . . if you can say that about a spring.

Fantastic pics. I especially like the head-on shot with the road & house in the background AND the one in front of BRP.

Spring!

That turned out great with that spring, you can see it even sits higher at rest!!

Very impressed with your work!

Looks like the license plate relocate won't have any issues anymore either.

Thank you for sharing!
