There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. My Daughter and I had a practice ride

I took my 8 year old daughter out on a practice ride yesterday. Her father told me that unless I get a back rest I have to keep her on roads that are under 35 MPH, so I moved her to day camp that is in my community so she can ride in the mornings and afternoons with me.

I purchased a helmet for her, pretty pink skulls LOL, she loves it. She wears my extra jacket and gloves, which are a little big, but not bad believe it or not. My question is what do I do about her legs? She wears shorts to camp and I don't want to make her change when she gets there. The camp is roughly 1.5 miles from my house, is it necessary for me to find her some pull away jeans so she can ride to camp or do you think shorts are OK for that short distance?

By the way my daughter starts her visual therapy tonight, it is going to be a long 48 weeks, but worth it in the end. The doctor said that we have to keep her motivated because the therapy is going to be hard work, so I think that promise, weather permitting, of a trip on the Spyder is good incentive and she is really excited.

Maybe mesh pants over shorts. Only takes seconds to take off and throw in the frunk. Roadgear has the old version them on clearance for around $60 I believe. http://roadgear.com/airtec-mesh-pants-closeout-p-127.html

They go down to a 28 inch waist and they are real easy to hem to length (I have sssl syndrome. Super stubby short legs.)

I can't say I've measured the waist on an 8 year old recently, but maybe? I think most girls that age are probably 24 inch waist but maybe with a belt (they have nice click connect belts there for cheap as well.)

Get yourself a pair while you're at it. My wife and I love ours, they're like wearing shorts when you ride.

The only other thing I can think of is motocross gear. They come in kids sizes but they won't be as comfortable.

Way to go keeping her motivated and good luck with the therapy!

Oh, and get a back rest for her, it'll make YOU feel more comfortable knowing it's there.

Thank you, I will look into getting pair of those. Great idea. I like the jackets too. As for the back rest, I would love to, but since the insurance isn't pay for therapy, we are a lot tight right now on funds. I am making do with what I have.

I've never seen their jackets and I'm not real confident they're worth it.

You see I wear the mesh mostly for basic protection from bugs, rocks etc and because they're like wearing shorts in the summer. Way more comfortable than jeans in the heat.

But I don't really think they're great protection. The roadgear mesh pants just don't seem to have the armor and reinforcement that I've been used to with my other gear.

That said, I'm sure they're at least as good as jeans if not better, protection-wise. And jeans were all I wore when riding before I got them.

I think you can get a quality mesh jacket around $100 if you shop around the sales. I know the Joe Rocket Trench can be bought for $119 and that is a real nice mesh jacket that includes a waterproof overcoat and pants (as opposed to a liner which goes inside the jacket and then the whole jacket is sopping wet when it rains.)

Never know when that might come in handy :) Fairly warm too for those colder mornings.

Keep us posted.

Tonight is going to be hard for her. The doctor sad we can expect her head and stomach to hurt by the end. If I have to throw her a carrot of a ride on the Spyder I am good with that. It makes her happy and will hopefully make everything else seem better or worth it. At least until she starts seeing an improvement. We will see.
