I didnt want a keyed gas cap because I didnt want to have to fiddle around with a locked gas cap every time I fuel up, after all, the starting procedure is long enough as it is. So I took a measurement and started looking around the garage and the house and came up with this cheap and easy solution to keep dirt and sand out of the filler spout. Florida has nothing but sand and it gets everywhere in these machines, including under the filler lids.
I know the 2021 models come with a locking gas cap, but the 19's & 20's didn't. Also, a lot of people on FB have been complaining about the new threaded gas cap on the 21's being difficult to remove, some think its vapor lock causing it to be difficult to unscrew (this one young lady carries a pair of channel locks in her frunk just for that reason). Many suggested to them to just leave the cap off. One lady tried my idea but she said that they changed the filler spout on the 21's and it wouldnt fit on her new machine. Anyway, thats a whole other subject.
