• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. My 2022 S2S has a constant RPM fluctuation - problem, or normal?

Hi

2022 S2S at idle, RPM's bounce from 850 - 900 constantly

850 900 850 900 850 900 850 900 always the same. at each idle.

problem or normal?

Thanks.

I am going to say it's normal! Good gas, good air, it's new and wants to be ridden, get on that thing and go!!!Ride more, worry less!!

Mine does it, not really meant to be an accurate indicator anyway. Roll that throttle and she purrrrrrs like a cat!

:agree: ..... compared to the gas gauge or temp gauge ..... It's way close enough ..... my 14 was similar when new ..... Mike

Mine fluctuates as much as 100 RPM at times and since my digital tach reads in 50 RPM increments it really seems to be fluctuating, been that way since day one and I have a 2015.

Mine has done the same as Navydad's from the get go on the digital tach and the analog tach doesn't move at all. I detect no change in engine sound.

It only reads in 50 rpm increments. So, in reality you might be seeing 875... perfectly normal operation.

Both my 2019 RTL and my new 2023 S2S show 800-900-800-900 constantly at idle even after riding. Never shows 850...Is there a way to get the dash to read in increments of 50?
2019 has 4500 miles, the S2S 1100 miles
Myabe i need to use some injector cleaner in both even though I use top tier premium fuel only ?

Save your money! That's exactly what my digital tach does. Even though I use Bajaron's iridium plugs, I change or have 'em changed at 28K, am less than 100 mi. from 87K on the roadster and have never put anything but gasoline in the tank.

Lots or worrying about nothing IMHO.

50 rpm's is nothing and honestly neither is 100 when the engine is at an idle. The gauges are electronic and will fluctuate.

No ICE that I know of will idle without fluctuation. The 998 V-Twins fluctuate 200 RPM or more. The more cylinders, the less the fluctuation will be, as a rule. Though I think Wankel engines were more stable at idle.

Now, if it were an electric motor under no load, I'd be more concerned.

Ignore it and just RYDE!

Top tier premium is is not a better or cleaner fuel than regular, the only difference for all practical purposes is it is harder to ignite and has a slower flame front, in other words, helps to reduce detonation or pre ignition.
