• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I am looking for double sided mufflers and also heard about Yoshi mufflers that go under the seats. Any guidance will be helpful. Looking to buy in next 7 days as my second :spyder: an SE may be coming in.
My present has the hindle but want to do something totally different for the SE.
Does Evoluzione do the leo's double sided!!

Evo seems to have quit the dual exhaust, nobody has an undertail exhaust available yet, it would require a riser under the rear shock. Even if you tried the new Zard exhaust for Ducati, there is very limited space. You will also need to make your own pipes. I wanted to try the Ixil undertail for the Triumph 675 on my Spyder.

There is no one making an exhaust for a true center exit above the rear wheel for the Spyder.

The rear wheel at full travel will cause it to hit any attempt at putting a muffler in this location.

There's something you could make Magic, a 2~3 inch riser on the rear shock for undertail exhaust.
 
Not that I have seen, it would be very easy though, there are some breaks in the exhaust in the engine compartment that would be better to start from than the one under the swing arm. I don't know if Evo started from the engine compartment or under the swingarm, but under the swing arm would need alot of work for an efficient split, but a simple split just to create a dual exhaust would be easy. The engine HP output is kinda low and the the exhaust diamater is fairly large so the gain of dual exhaust probably won't be very large and then there's the extra weight of such a system cutting into your gain if any.
 
I would have worries about the under-seat plastic panel, too. This is not fiberglass or metal, but thermoplastic. It can deform with very little encouragement from a hot exhaust nearby.

What is the perception of those that have had the aftermarket exhaust. Which has come out tops for Spyder??
I have read about Yoshi, Micron, Hindley, Brothers, Leo among others. What has been a favorite or is this again a personal preference.

Don't forget, you can also use Magic Man Elbow and something from muffler mall or some place similar! That elbow is great, lots of options!
 
Exhaust systems, looks and sound levels and what sounds "best" are real personal things. There are as many answers to this as there are riders. It has been some of the most discussed areas of aftermarket products for years.:chat:

If there was ever any doubt just look at all the companies making different systems, and it becomes obvious that everybody has their own "favorite" in this area for sure.

That is why we now carry exhausts from 5 different companies (Micron, Motad, Yoshimura, Two Brothers, and Tailgunner) all in one spot for our customers to be able to choose which they like best. :clap:

I think you will be able to find out some general things like who is loud and who is not. But just what looks best to your eyes and sounds best to your ears only your eyes and ears will know for sure.

I had a Hindle and liked it okay. I ended up going back to the Spyder stock muffler. For me, the sound of a loud exhaust is cool sometimes but not all the time (... a loud exhaust is cool all the time but I don't like hearing it all the time). In general, I prefer a quieter exhaust over a louder one. If I was buying a two wheeled bike based on exhaust sound, I would get a Goldwing over a Harley.

I could have any of these systems on my bike (it's good to be the Pres. LOL) :2thumbs:

But I still have my Micron on my Spyder and I still love it. :thumbup:

I took the time to re-wrap my glass tighter for preventive maintance. But I love the sound and light weight of this system as much today as when I put it on in Febuary.

All the other brands we sell are quality products and all do a good job or we would not sell them.

However, I still like my Micron, but this is just my taste for my own Spyder. :dontknow:

I prefer the micron myself as well. I plan on pulling mine apart tomarrow to check and repack the packing. Pipe are so expensive I want to take care of this one as long as I can.
 
It's been my experience that 2/1 systems outperform true duals on v-twin engines. Mostly has to do with each pipe helping to scavenge exhaust gasses from the other, evacuating the burnt charge a little quicker. Also helps to minimize reversion, a pressure wave that travels back up the pipe, also impeding exhaust flow. The size of the pipe isn't as important as flow characteristics, velocity trumps volume. HP isn't the number that you feel when you twist the wick- torque is, and sometimes a little back pressure helps to improve that, at the RPM's we ride at. A set of open drag pipes work great at WOT, but how often do you ride there? I run true duals on my HD because I like the sound, even though I know I'm sacrificing a little performance vs. a 2/1 system.
I didn't discount it? I think starting at the break under the swing arm would hinder with all the mandrel bends trying to get a clean dual exhaust outlet. You could make a simple dirty split, but starting fresh at the next set of breaks into an X collector seems like a better idea and looks cleaner...you could get real picky and remove all the exhaust and make sure each side from the X collector forward hold the same volume of fluid, then do the same from the X collector back.
 
OK you guys are getting real techy here and I have no :cus: clue what the heck you are talking about but I'm glad we have techy people in here cuz I want my bike loud but I also want it to run good too:2thumbs:. Good thing HDX does all the motor work in this house LOL!
