• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Mudflap lights.....

Got the Triple Play II, Tipz lights and the mudflap lights from NoMagicNeon.
The mudflap lights were supposedly beta units so the Magic man sent them along minus instructions and minus cost:clap:

It was a cold, rainy and just all around miserable day so perfect for working on the Spyder in a nice warm garage.

So as longs as I was skinning the Spyder I figured that I'd check everything out. There was just a very small amount of oil in the air box and the battery is looking good. I have one missing panel bolt and after putting it all back together I'm now missing one of the plastic rivits which seems to have rolled under something in the garage:dontknow:

The Triple Play II is a cinch and I had that end of the Spyder back together in about 40 min. Already had the center tail light installed which would have only added a few more minutes to the job it you haven't already got one.

The mud flap lights and fender Tipz is a whole nother world.
Start by jacking up the front and removing the wheels. Use a heat gun or hair dryer to warm the reflective decals on the mudflaps and peel them off. Then drill a 1/4 inch hole in the middle of where the decal was. Clean and prep the surface and stick on the lights.
I sat long and just thought about how to route the wires for the mud flap lights. There are two ways to go.

1. Along the fender support bracket and back into the guts of the Spyder where you tap into the wires of the Tipz connectors. And while this might might be the best way it sure is hard to reach in there and get everything secure.

2. Instead I chose to route along the fender support rib and into the space behind the fender running lights and tapped in there. Actually quite easy as there are 4 bolts that hold the fender to the fender supports. Then drilled two small holes in the support rib and loosely zip tied the wires to the outside of the support rib and then into the box behind the running light. There's even a wire support and groove built in to run the wire and plenty of room for the connectors. Tightened up the wire run and the bolts and then tightened the zip ties and clipped them.

The black arrow is the original wiring to the running light. The red arrow is the wire to the mud flap. I think that you can just see the existing wire guide before the wire enters the light box.

Reinstalled the wheels and body panels.

All in all they look great and really light up the Spyder!

Cool but how about a few pictures of the mudflaps lights installed and working?

:nopic:

yea we want pics :agree::nopic:

Ok, but it wasn't easy.
When I take pictures with my digital camera you either get a horribly underexposed motorcycle and properly exposed lights or horribly overexpsosed lights and a properly exposed motorcycle. Not to mention it's :cus: cold out there!

So took three shots at different exposures and blended them with PhotoAcute.
