• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

MSF Basic Riding Course!

GMAN9

New member
Took (and passed) the basic riding course this weekend in the pouring rain know doubt. For a first time rider the class was well worth the money! Had a blast and it was very informative. I'm thinking they should make it a requirement for any new riders. Just the knowledge and insight you get from the instructors who have been riding for 20+ years....you just can't put a price on that!
A few comments on what I figured out this weekend.
1. I really enjoyed the leaning aspect....that was awesome. I know I will be giving that up for the Spyder.
2. Even though I will miss the leaning...the safety of the Spyder out weighs that!
3. I now know that my decision to get the semi-automatic is correct! I can see how having a clutch would be a pain in the rear in traffic.

So off to the DMV on Friday to take the written test and get my endorsement.
Another step closer to becoming a Spyder owner!

Stayed tuned!

I took the MFS three weeks ago and agree with you. I learned so much from taking the class and it helped me to make the decision to get a spyder. I passed the class and took the DMV's written test. Just a little info for you the test at the DMV is harder then the written test in the class, read their book. Have fun and be safe.:congrats:

I thought that MSF had developed a course for trikes?

I need to take a refresher but have no desire to do it on a leaner spending time learning to do figure 8s in a parking space without falling over again. Been there and done that. Time better spent on learning to keep me and the Spyder safe.

They did, but I can't take it here in Southern California...nobody offers it within a two or three hour drive.

I took both the two wheel and three wheel MSF class last year. The three wheel class was the first offered in Iowa. The classroom portions of each class were very similar but the driving portions took into account two wheels vs three and were slightly different. I enjoyed both classes immensely and recommend them highly.

First of all... :congrats: I did it myself before I got my :spyder2: and never regretted it!

In TN, you only need to take the eye test if you passed the MSF course because you take a written and ridden examination on the MSF course that is similar to most state's requirements. The training gives you a certificate, take it to the DMV, pass the eye test and pay the fees. You still have to take the written test in NC?!?!?

Go to MSF's website and look for schools within your area that offer MSF training. You can check the school's individual's websites which are listed on the MSF website and see if the school(s) offer trike training.

Did mine last week here in MO in the cold 40F max. I agree it was well worth the time and money, but now I keep reaching for the hand brake. I do find myself more comfortable with the Spyder after the MSF course even if it was on 2 wheels.

Proof of Insurance

Mimi,

I sent you a PM as well. But I'm trying to figure out what type of documentation I have to take with me besides the card saying I passed the MSF course. I know to get a regular car license you have to have proof of insurance. I don't have my Spyder yet...so do I need to have proof of motorcyle insurance?

Any help from others would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
