• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Moving RT without starting

Have a 2014 RT semi-auto can it be safely rolled 5 feet without starting, thought i saw something about not rolling them but couldn't find anything.

turn key on as normal.
turn emergency brake off
push bike forward or reverse.

once you get the bike where you want it, turn emergency brake back on.
turn key off.

:2thumbs: Rolling them short distance is ok, Towing them:yikes::lecturef_smilie: Big NO NO! Get it on a flat trailer if you need to move any big distance otherwise you will cause more damage. The tranny needs the fluid pumping. Neutral is not the same as you find else where, just the nature of our spyders:coffee: (I dont suggest trying coasting down a steep hill either:p, for 1 your DSP will not have power & Just dont do it!)

Moving it 5 or so feet is OK, but if you MUST move your SE Spyder any significant distance with the rear wheel still turning (ie, moving anything much more than a couple of tens of metres not on a flat bed) then take the drive belt off so that the rear wheel can rotate freely without turning anything else.... :lecturef_smilie:

Key on, and brake off works.

However...
When you're moving the bike around, and aren't sitting on it: :lecturef_smilie: make sure that you stand on the brake pedal side! If it were to get away from you: there's no stopping it without the brakes!

Oh! You'll also mess with your audio settings... :banghead:
Bass, treble, fader, and automatic volume control; will be set back to the way the bike came from the factory.

Nice to know Bob! I wondered why my audio setting seem to disappear from time to time. I don't understand why this happens, but maybe this is the answer.

At Spyderfest the Spyders must be pushed around in Vendor Village, since it is inside. I don't know if there's an upper limit to how far you can move without power, but it could be a hundred feet round trip there.

My RT is a SM6, so I have released the brake and moved it on a couple of occasions by just pulling in the clutch lever. I only did this a couple of feet. Now my RSS is a SE5 and I do find myself moving it more often, but it is always less than 10-15'. I assumed that this would not cause a transmission issue, but it is good to know that I am safe.

I agree, I push my RT all over the garage and yard with out any problems.

As a matter of routine, when I pull my Spyder into the garage I shift it into Neutral and set the parking brake. Although you can push the thing around when it's in 1st, it's easier if in Neutral.

Similar to JayBros, pull into garage, shift to neutral, I do not even set the brakes, just place a rubber chock at the left front wheel.

When I get ready to ride, just roll it outside, key on, parking brake on, fire the motor without filling the garage with exhaust fumes.

If you do roll an SE6 in gear, you will feel a drag through the clutch, this is normal. If you roll it in neutral, it rolls easy like a skateboard.

MOVING IT IN NEUTRAL ---ENGINE OFF

IMHO - it's not about how far but at what speed you are doing this ...... Mike

There you have it....

:agree: Not a problem all you need to know is above. Just don't go any faster than you can push it....:joke:

If you shut if off in neutral: you don't have to put your foot on the brake pedal, when firing it back up... :D
