• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Mounting chrome footpegs!!

bought BRP chrome footpegs for my RT. Installation instructions are 10 pages long!!!! Shows having to tear half the RT apart to install footpegs? Anyone out there done this job? Any shortcuts or alternatives? :banghead:

It is not necessary to remove the panels to change out your foot pegs, but you do need to jack the bike up in order to give you plenty of room to work from below. The left side foot peg removal is very straight forward. The right can be tricky because of the brake lever.

Note: On the right side underneath the Footrest there is a nut on the bolt that the Brake Lever pivots on. This bolt also holds the Footrest to the Footrest Support Casting. The head of this bolt has a sheet metal retaining tab that needs to be bent up to get a wrench on the bolt head. Be careful when trying to remove this bolt because the brake lines tend to get in the way. Just be aware that they are there and gently push them out of the way.

If you require pictures then pm me and I will email you the file (1.8 mb)

How do you get the rear master cylinder out of the way to remove the rightside support?

Remove the brake rod. Remove both mounting bolts on the master cylinder. DO NOT disconnect or crack open the brake lines. Very gingerly sneak the rubber boot and cylinder out.

WARNING - when you put the mounting bolts back in - make sure they are started by hand - because they most likely WILL NOT line up perfectly due to the tweaking done during R & R.

Hope this helps.....good luck.

Suggestion. Eat some Wheaties first. The type of thread lock used on the main mounting bolts reacts to heat and the nuts don't come off without a fight. :yikes:

The lines have more than enough flex for you to gently hold them out of the way while you pull the bolt out.

My bad. OP is just talking about the pegs. I thought you were saying you could do the supports without pulling any panels.
