• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Mounting a Garmin Portable GPS

Has anyone mounted any of the portable Garmin 255W's on their Spyder ? I haven't found a place to put it. I also haven't found a simple way to get the 12 volts up front.

Sept 15, 2011,
I finally installed my Garmin Nuvi 1450 last night. I have a battery tender wire coming directly from the battery, which I use to continuosly to keep the battery charged. I bought a 6 ft. cable with a 12 volt in line female connector and the matching battery tender plug on the other. I just connect the Garmin cable with the 12 volt cable and I hang the GPS on the left side of the windshield. It works fine there, except I have the same problem with all the GPS's on the cycles that everyone else seems to have. Glare. I guess all of them need a type of surrounding shield to keep the sun off. At night, there is no problem. Any suggestions ?

Mounting a GPS

I installed a 1" Ram mount on the clutch reservoir cover, a 3" arm and one of those "finger" (the name escapes me...) mounts. It holds my IP4 nice and snug. I think I spent $60, perhaps a little less.

5 Cent Garmin Mount

Here is what I came up with to mount my older Garmin to my 2011 RT. Used 4 wire ties (two hooked together) and attached to handlebars. Worked like a charm and is easily removed.
