• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Motorcycle "Safety" Check Points on way to Daytona

As long as the law tells us i have to pull in i will do it i have nothing to hide { no i don't like it} If they save 1 life it's worth it.
I also believe if they are really doing this in the interest of safety then pull everyone in and i don't believe anyone would be arguing it as harrassment.
only the guilty have fear.

It's not about safety, that is the whole point. But going forward with the the thought that it IS about safety;

Then they need to go you your home and rummage through everything there. If it saves 1 life.... Only the guilty have anything to fear from the Government.

They also need to monitor and record all phone, email and other communication, (but only for motorcycle riders, of course). Hey, if it saves just 1 life....

We need video equipment everywhere to record our every move, if it saves just 1 life....

So much for 'The Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave'. We've traded it for 'The Land of the Safe and the Home of the Closely Monitored' (Uh, motorcycle riders only, of course).

Baja,

Like I said in a previous post, you've changed my mind. It's not about safety; it's a traffic stop and only for m/c. But, I think, you've gone a little overboard here.

I've stayed away from posting for a week b/c I was accused of flaming. I hope you don't think I'm flaming you. Just a friendly discussion.

:agree:

When they passed the Patriot Act under the guise of keeping us 'safe' I couldn't believe those in support of it and the general opinion of its supporters. I can't tell you how many times I heard from them "well I've got nothing to hide" or "if it keeps us safer", etc.....

Seems people have woken up since then as I don't believe most support overly intrusive things like the Patriot Act.

We need to stand firm on these basic freedoms.

I'm just bouncing my version of logic off someone else's opinion. Painting with a broad brush is always going to miss the details, and I hope that is understood.

I'd just like to encourage people to think beyond what we are told. I might not express it well, but that is my intent.

I do not mean for it to be a 'Flame', and I apologize if it came off that way.

How about this approach. If the story fits the facts then they probably are telling us the truth. In this case, their story and reality just don't match up. That means there is another purpose that they aren't telling us about. So, why aren't they giving us the real scoop if this is such a great idea? We are left to speculate.

Thanks for the heads up. It's appreciated.

:agree: Thank you for saying this so much better than I did.

I thought "The Patriot Act" was lifted right out of George Orwell's book "1984"nojoke

Actually the Patriot Act was passed during the Bush years against the outcry of the Democrats. However, when President B. O. took office and saw just what the Patriot Act did, his administration supported it, and it was passed by a congress which then was controlled by the Democrats.

All that said, at the end of the day I still think it is just a B.S. money grab. Every time you turn around now big government is reaching deeper and deeper into your pockets. Like Bruiser said, It will be very interesting indeed to see if S.C. pulls this stunt as well.

You didn't do any flaming. It was I and I took a week to reflect on it.

I didn't take it that way. Just your opinion based on heart felt convictions. I've been wrong before and in the end, I appreciated someone making the point in a way that I could change my mind for the better. (As long as it isn't Lamont!).

It's all good. I don't think anyone is here to make enemies. We do come from different life experiences and we've developed differing opinions. And really, that is what it's all about.

:agree:

I know this isn't the same; In New York during hunting season the State Troopers take a Conservation Agent with them, NO search Warrant is ever needed .
It stinks but it passed the Court test.

+In NYS, conservation law is more powerful, FYI.

Ride on.

Regardless of who passed it, who supports it, or who doesn't, it still smack of "Wordspeak"

Thats the Orwellian phrase for the gov't doing something and calling it the opposite.

+I luv ya' Roger, but you're wrong. The righteous are frequently and rightfully fearful of wrongfully oppressive actions.

Ride on.

:agree:When they first put in red light cameras they made a lot of money on tickets. Once drivers learned to stop in time revenues went down.
So they just set the sequence yellow to red faster so to catch more drivers $$$$$
