• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Motorcycle Only Checkpoint Stops

I just renewed my membership for another 3 years about 10 days ago. It is good to support these guys. :doorag:

I'm a Life Member of the AMA and I would urge anyone who rides three wheels or two to support this campaign and the AMA.

This is a link to an AMA Site that is trying to put an end to motorcycle only check points. It's a revenue scam, it is unconstitutional, and if you don't like it here is something that you can do about it.

:agree: They do this a lot in Mass. and no-one gets by without some sort of citation.

I don't see what the big deal is. They have truck only road blocks all the time. If it gets riders off the road that are not running legal equipment, proper insurance, or licensing than I am all for it. In Connecticut it is a big joke. Bikers run open pipes and ape hangers and law enforcement does not care at all.

The semi truck stops are...

DOT (department of transportation) stops to ensure the drivers are not abusing the number of hours they are supposed to drive each day. Many of the newer trucks have QualCom systems which prevent this but many of the older trucks "well the drivers have two log books"... now don't ask me how I know this.

The reason the motorcycle only stops is probably a violation of the Constitution is because it is profiling... the courts ruled several years ago that profiling was illegal.

That particular case came about because of a Deputy sheriff operating on I95 in Clinch County Georgia. He was profiling only dark color Nissan Maximas with dark tint on the windows that were running 80 mph.

In GA there is a 10 mph variance authorized because of a clip joint town called Ludiwici, GA. This is the town that the Governor installed signs on each side of the town warning travelers about the crooks there. Then he had to have the State Police guard the sign 24/7. Ken krb1945

Devil's Advocate here :D... Like it or not; when a motorcyclist does something foolish it hurts all of us. We all get painted with that "broad brush"... Somebody will start a sentence something like, "Those damn motorcyclists..." and we're off to the races.
If a checkpoint gets somebody off the road who doesn't belong there I figure that the LEOs have done me a favor...
Okay...I'm off the soapbox! :lecturef_smilie: :shemademe_smilie::dontknow:

This was discussed by one of the big wigs of AMA at Americade....They had one of there in Lake George and he got stopped on the way to the evening awards ceremonies. It is a bunch of crap.....they are definatly fighthing this!

I will be joining AMA as well...they have some good benefits!

Its not right and not fair!!! why should we be pulled over and run the risk of getting hit and killed....simply because we ride.....screw there checkpoints, i'm legal and ride......DON'T risk my life cause your trying to find a needle in a hay stack!!!
