• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

motorcycle endorsment for the spyder

Is it true that some states do not require an M endorsment to operate the spyder??
Just wondering....:dontknow:

I live in California and don't have a M license. One of the biggest reasons why I bought it since I knew I only needed my driver's license.

BTW, the weather here in California sucks right now. I can't wait till this rain stops so I can go out and ryde.

Here in New York you also need the Motorcycle endorsement on your license. HOWEVER... if you take your road test on a trike, you are then limited to a riding trikes... If your road test is taken on two-wheels you'll be good to go on anything less than four...

Someone (other than me) should make a list for the frequently asked question.

My contributions:

Virginia: Requires M license. Only one class of M license in Virginia enables you to legally operate both two and three wheelers.

Pennsylvania. Requires M motorcycle license. Two classes of M license in Pennsylvania, one for two wheelers (M) and one for three wheelers (M9). Licenses are not interchangeable.

WA State

Separate tryke endorsement required. But motorcycle endorsement required only if you also ride 2 wheels. So in my case I ONLY have the tryke endorsement. :yikes:

M endorsement

In SC, I bought the Spyder with just a regular drivers license (and a credit card!!!:D)

Separate endorsment for trikes??????
Damn, i learn something new everyday,
the only reason i ask , is because my wife took it over:mad:
She is going to MSFclass in a few weeks anyway, and yes,, she will get her M endorsment if she wants to ride, one can never be to safe:D

Same thing here in Arizona....

Florida is the same. My wife just did the course for trikes 2 weeks ago.

In Jersey you need an ''M'' endorsement.
But a call to M. V. will sometimes say you can get a trike endorsement'??
They [mv] might be confusing that with a low speed registration.:dontknow:

NJ

It is/was my understanding in NJ they give a trike class once a year IF they have at least 7 participants and you must have your own trike/spyder. The MSF classes supply MC for the course.

This was at least the information given to me by my instructor.

Same in Oregon

Darrell has his M endorsement so he can ride anything but I will only have my trike endorsement so can only ride trikes.

Now im curious, tomorrow i will go to the DMV and ask all this questions, i never knew about a trike endorsment, and i have been riding for 25+ years:yikes:

Interesting... What would happen if I were to ryde the spyder to another state that needs an 'M' license? Would they be okay with it or tow my spyder?
