• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

motor dies when comming to a stop. 2014 rt any suggests to try till can get to dealer

SO TODAY A PRODUCT SPECIALIST FROM BRP WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP... WE WILL SEE IF HE CAN FIX IT.. I HAVE MY DOUBTS HOPE I AM WRONG..

OK so can am sent their product specialist down to the dealer from Canada. He spent about 8 hours checking every wire in the harness. All OK he then rechecked all the engine and computer functions. Compression fuel all good. Should run. Today around one PM got the call from my brp contact in Wisconsin. Needs a new engine. Went to dealer. Eric brp tech took a horoscope thru the intake to the second cylinder. It looked like an explosion of metal. Something a valve seal or something let go. Believe it or not due to a previous mixup with ae f3. And no one returning an engine that was sent to the dealer a little while ago. The engine is on stock and will be installed next week...... Brp is shipping my engine back as they need to know what failed and the engine builders in Austria are. Curious Also. It was a long journey but at last they found the problem. Thanks to my dealer Columbia Motorsports. Eileen at brp for talking to me and keeping me informed and speaking to me almost every day since the case got elevated to her level. Joseph a team leader for the techs. And the last one to get involved Eric he is the Spyder guru product specialist. It Eve had him perplexed. The one thing he did say is that when he gets involved. He rechecks everything that the techs at the dealership does and the reports they send to brp. As he said some get lazy happy to say that was NOT the case here. Glad to hear that as the owner is a personal friend . so hopefully will be back riding next weekend

I am glad to hear the light at the end of the tunnel is not a train. Thanks for sharing what they found and sorry that it has taken this long to find the problem.

:congrats: on the fact that they found the problem, although I'm sorry that you've had to endure so much...
Why not ask if they'll throw in an extended warranty on your bike, as a gesture of good faith?
It can't hurt to ask!

Well over eight weeks new engine seems to have fixed the problem. Liked up this evening. Will be putting it thru it's paces this weekend.

Wonder if a simple compression check would have identified the bad cylinder? We do that on cages all the time. Might just ask if they had done that and if not, maybe they should add that into their diagnostic flow chart. In reality it only comes down to three areas: mechanical, electrical, fuel. Sounds like they concentrated on just the fuel and electrical and left out testing the mechanical. If BRP is smart they will learn from this mistake. I bet it cost them many thousands of dollars in labor and unnecessary parts.

And the sad thing is: they had the plugs out, they could have run a compression check and/or a borescope then. Harbour Freight sells borescope cameras for under $100.

Glad they found it and congrats on all the new parts, even an engine!!

They did compression and leak down the first week. All were normal

Hum, with it that damaged you would have thought the compression would have been lower in that cylinder. And with good compression I would not have bore scoped it either. Certainly food for future thought and I hope this was a fluke. The 1330 triple is an awesome engine and other than a water pump failure it seems to be almost bulletproof.

so now that i am sitting at a normal keyboard will fill in all the details.. after the dealer did all they could do. BRP sent down from Canada their product specialist on the spyder. Eric, handles every issues with spyders all over the world. He came to the dealer spent almost two days going over everything the dealer did ( as he finds sometimes corners are cut) in this case dealer did everything correctly every test was done properly.. . after he reran all the tests.. he then checked every wire in the main harness before replacing the main harness. all the wires tested good no electrical issues at all. Can Am has never seen this. he then took apart the airbox and thru the intake put a boroscope to the engine.. the second cyln looked like fireworks had gone off.. something metallic got in there and the photo of it looked like the inside of your eyeball with shattered blood vessels. it was very wierd as compression tests done in week two of the process and leak down tests all were at the high end of the tolerances. Note he did them also and they were the same. So verdict was new engine. One of the luckiest things was the dealer had recieved and engine for an f3 by mistake and no one on either side had gotten around to doing the paperwork to return it.. so the dealer had an engine in stock  so last week the engine was installed got the bike back Friday evening put 200 miles on it today it is flawless. Shop did a great job as all my panels are custom painted etc.. and not a scratch on them.. they were concerned i call them when they opened this morning at 9 i already was out riding for a few hours.. they didnt want to pick up the phone... i just needed my headset extension cord that was attached to the plug was sitting on service managers desk :roflblack:

the only bad thing is that all my leds were removed by order of brp phone service guy... he told the dealer to take them all off.. i even spoke to him couldnt get it thru his head.. i never cut into the main harness made my ownr sep harness for th led's aprox 30 strips the were run off a sep fuse block all they had to do was disconnect two wires... so now i will have to rewire and reinstall all the leds sat radio and battery tender..

the contact i have a can am will talk to me next week and discuss what kind of compensation they will provide for the length of time and having to rewire the bike and replace led strips as some the circuits will be damaged as they were siliconed to the bike oh well needed a winter project But back on the road

ALSO ENGINE WILL BE GOING BACK TO FACTORY IN CANADA AND PERHAPS ENGINE BUILDING PLANT IN AUSTRIA TO REALLY RIP INTO IT
