MotoLights pics on my Spyder

Out in Gatlinburg, I had Maurice from MBL Innovations install a set of 35w Motolights. http://www.mblinnovations.com/MotoLgts.html

https://www.motolight.com/

He was set up with the Helibar tent at the dealer.

They are a bit pricey in my opinion, but I spend on safety first, comfort second, and doo-dads last... So the lights won last Wednesday versus the Helibar setup.

EDIT: As FireFly pointed out below... Some states may not like these and is one reason I may add the amber bulbs so that they absolutely look like fogs/driving lights... I think most LEO's would understand the safety aspect and I could probably argue Headlights vs fog, vs whatever...

Very happy with them. I now look like a aircraft taking off or landing, and at slow speed at night, with these lights turning with the wheels, they do make a difference in sharp turns. At speed, they throw a little more light low, and wider than the fogs. The motolight site sells new lenses, amber bulbs ( I might try), gaskets, and the 50watt bulbs that will work in these. They come with the 35watt.

Maurice did a good job installing these, even though I was watching over his shoulder for part of the install.

My garage is messy do to an on going remodel inside the house. But here are the pics.

By the way, these came in handy when Forest drove into Lamont's drainage trench when leaving that night. I pulled in the opposite side of the drive, parked out of the way in case he launched out by surprise, and turned my wheels, and hence the lights right towards his stuck Spyder so we had some light to work with.

Those were pretty cool on your bike--- liked how they point where you turn!

I would recommend checking state laws before installing them---- pretty sure in Michigan we can't have 6 lights forward-- seems I remember reading that somewhere--- then again I remember reading that TN was a helmet free 21+ state-----:roflblack:.

Yes.. I meant to add that in the post.. Will add now. Another TN Spyder rider told me the same. That TN limits you to 4 headlights. A picky LEO could consider these "6" in total... Debatable. As I said, safety first.... But it is one reason I'm considering moving to the amber bulbs.

I WANT these for my bike for sure. Mine doesn't have fog lights on it... yet but for sure I like the idea of the third set on the axle.

eta: it's FOG lamps not FLOOD lights. (huge eyeroll at self)

I'm almost embarrassed to say... $500.00. As I said, Pricey. Hard to put a price on ensuring you are seen from a safety perspective though while looking "factory".
Agreed!
I've priced some of these and that's the price I came up with. You did well if that was the price including installation. I have no clue how much work that is.

It took him an hour and a half to install....So I'm thinking it was a good deal all considering. Moto sells these for $450, so for $500 I got the lights, the custom mounts for the Spyder and the install.

Then again... $500 could have bought a few mods versus the one...It's only money. :roflblack:

910 85W=130W High Power Driving Light Kit
Touring bike owners love this lamp because ot its extreme performance. The high-output bulb with a focused driving pattern sends light farther down the road for safer high-speed touring.Elliptical design defines the unique character fo this lamp. Made from powder-coated die-cast aluminum this is truly a high-performance lamp you will be proud to own. Kit Includes two lamps, wiring harness, relay, and switch

I have these mounted on the upright of the fenders they look good and work great. I love that they turn with the front wheels. They are $289.00 direct from PIAA and I have seen them cheaper on other sites.

i should add that they look GREAT on your Spyder Dan. I like the "UV" hue that is projected as well. Really an eye catcher. you are right, a little pricey, but you only live ONCE.

Eh... Why save if my wife is only going to take 50% of all solvent property anyway! :roflblack: ....Shhhhhh!!!

But yeah... When Doc and I were running I40 East to 81 north to make it to Lamont's faster, he said that he thought a trooper was coming up behind us as the motolights were flashing blue over bumps.... Fogs tend to do that too.

Dan,

I really like these and if the price was lower, I'd get them too. They remind me of the old car, the Tucker...the first to ever have a headlight that turned with the vehicle...

Great look and great job! Enjoy...

tough putting a price on safety; DannyS

Hello WD,
They look nice. Tough putting a price on safety.
DannyS,
If you get a chance, I would really like to see how those look on your fenders?

Yep...I saw your lights in G-Burg (at Smokies bar with "no helmet guy"!) I really like them nojoke , but I need to save some money for the holidays, so I'm just going to duct tape a couple L.E.D. flashlights to my Spyder!!!!!! :roflblack: :roflblack: :roflblack:
