• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

More on the hybrid Spyder

I don't remember anyone posting the range on this before, if they did I just missed it. This report is saying a 375 mile range, that would be twice of what I'm getting now.

Wow, 325 miles would be awesome per tank. That puts it within crusing range of cars with much larger tanks.

"Averaging 8.1 L/100km (29 mpg)"

Unless they are doing mid ride refueling I think that 375 mile range is a typo...Perhaps it can go 37 miles on battery only/low speed like many of the hybrid cars do now.

While I really don't want to rain on anybody's parade; "Expected range" often isn't the same as "Actual range"...
But I'm really hoping to be dead wrong! :D

I still say they should make the Frunk lid a solar panel. That should give us another ten miles out of it during sunny rides!:2thumbs:

They are talking about that engine in the Skidoo not the Spyder.

engine currently used in BRP’s 2011 Ski-Doo snowmobiles. Averaging 8.1 L/100km (29 mpg), it is the most fuel-efficient engine in the snowmobile industry.

:agree: That would be a cool idea. I am currently looking into a solar battery charger that I think may be just the ticket I need for project. :D

Thanks for the link, good info. Any one have a link to more pics of the Proto-type I've searched came up with just this 1 pic :dontknow:

Thanks Lamonster after reading that article and viewing those pics I really wonder what the heck will my kids be driving:dontknow::dontknow: That is a very large investment by BRP and the Canadian grant, crazy world we live in today. I can't help but think how much money was Thomas Edison granted to make all his inventions for society??:roflblack::roflblack:

I'll believe it when I see it. I had a hybrid Lexus and loved it...didn't do 'that' great with mileage and paid a lot of extra money for it...not worth it, IMHO...

Double the mileage (65-70Miles) and comparable accelleration. Not Bad but I gotta save up for a Trike Para Glider (trike Buggy Delta) so I can soar like a bird!:yikes:

I saw this at the New York motorcycle show and spoke to a BRP rep there. The one at the show was just for show. It had no engine, electric nor gas. He told me they were about 4 years away from production. A lot can happen in that time. But it looked cool.

I'd bet Edison got plenty more $$$ than that (converted to today's money) from our government for all the research and inventions he did. Most of the biggest and best such things in our history had government backing of some form. Glad Canada is investing in this technology. If they can bring one to market in 4 years that is amazing.

ACE ?

They are talking about that engine in the Skidoo not the Spyder.

The brand new ski-doo engine thats out in 2011 models is the 600 ACE. ACE stands for Advanced Combustion Engine. I heard that BRP is /was having some issues with that motor. The HP is around 60HP and guys are talking about wanting a turbo for it. This motor also gets around 29MPG US or 35MPG IMP.Gallon.
