• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Monkey Butt

Thanks everyone for the input. I'm leaning towards either the Russell Day Long or doing the seat myself. Maybe I'll buy a used seat on Ebay and butcher that, if I fail I can send it to Russell. I don't want to lose my seat/ryde at the beginning of the season for any reason I can avoid. My thoughts.

Just make sure you don't butcher it too much if you want Russell to modify it, Road-Kill. It needs to be pretty much a stock seat when you send it to them.

I am not saying this to be picky, I am just interested in whether Russell are failing in their "guarantee";)
.
Alas, they can not guarantee my 70 year old butt. :opps:

As I sit here in front of my computer, I'm getting "messages" from the south end telling me it's time to get up and move around.

That didn't happen nearly as quickly 10 years ago.

Thus my earlier comment about keeping in shape.......which I really do NOT do.

.
Since when ?? I thought that a bare seat pan was acceptable.

This is from the Russell site:

We build on your stock seat. Prices given refer to stock seats only. Aftermarket or altered seats are subject to additional charges.

So, they will accept it, but may charge you more.

I agree, you can't beat a Russell seat. I have one on my Valkyrie and I love it.

Monkey Butt Powder

Yes folks, he is right again, Anti-Monkey Butt powder can be of some assistance for those annoying butt issues.
This is the Man Product Bottle, there is one for the Ladies as well in a Pink Bottle.

Simply open, shake an generous portion on the hind quarters and ryde with relief for hours to come, available in many places but most especially vendors who care about your butt!:roflblack:

Is there a reason no one has mentioned Ultimate seats? I was considering one of their reduced reach seats.

Ultimate make a great seat Aesculapius and many swear by them. However, like all the "stock" aftermarket seats (Mustang, Sargeant, Corbin etc) they are one size fits all, so they do not fit each person the same way, and can result in discomfort after a short time in the saddle, and have to be replaced with a seat from another manufacturer, which may also not work.

The OP was specifically wondering if there was a manufacturer who would guarantee a comfort fit. Russell is the only one I know of (I'm sure there are others), and from Easy Rider's response there are cases where even that guarantee can't be met;)

Russell use "heavy duty" springing if you are a bigger lad and can move you up, down or back to ensure your hips are above your knees, which is apparently one of the key items in ensuring comfort. The wings on the sides provide additional butt support, and you can get the seat covered in leather, vinyl, velour or sunbrella (which I have on mine.....great for Aussie summers). They can also include seat seating where you wire direct to your battery).

The downside is that the Russell is considered butt ugly (see what I did there? :roflblack:) by some because of the "wings" they use to provide full support. That doesn't bother me one jot....if my butt is happy, I'm happy.
