• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Moisture in speedometer

I was wondering if anyone has this issue and what they did to resolve it. I am usually careful not to spray water around my dash but I get bugs splatter on the backside of my windshield as well for some reason. I was not concerned with a little water after all the spyder should be made to ride in the rain. I took the black plastic cover off yesterday and was surprised at the way it is designed. The water rolls off the dash, right into the crack between that panel and gets under it without any gasket or at least the lower plastic cover should be under the upper one. No, its like a butt joint. It looked like the actual speedometer was one piece and needed me to dismantle more of the dash to get to it.
My question is, is there an easy way to get the clear cover off to air it out and seal it better? Or is it a warranty issue?

There is...but

if under warranty I would have the dealer deal with it. You can get replacement lenses and gaskets. They had problems with that some time ago but thought they fixed it...:gaah:

Oh Brother!
I need to take it in before it starts to ruin the electronics.

Its still under warranty. There is a place inside where the water was rolling in pretty good and now its basically fogging up. Im taking it in now.

I had this problem with the fuel and temperature gages not long after I bought my 2014 RTL. When the gages dried out I knew they were not sealed. Took it in and both gages replaced under warranty. I have not had the issue with the speedometer or Tach.

I took it in the other day, They said It would take awhile to get to it but MAYBE they could get to it this week. :gaah:

I got moiture in the dash ,I call and talk to manage bring my bike in after He look and order new dash and the dealer replace it under warranty ,they did order and replace in a week.Very good Dealer and Tech

Back in 2010 I had a water mark inside my gauges and I took the plastic lens off and tried to clean it. Bad idea, they must use some type of anti fog treatment on the inside and I made one little smear into a big mess.

It's a common problem. It mostly comes from washing the Spyders. The lens is part # 415129349 cost $16.99 and the gauge cluster(includes the lens) Part# 710004111 cost $839.99. I replaced my lens on my 2011 RS-S SE5 and waited 2 weeks for the lens. I repaired replace my own lens because I didn't trust my dealer to do it the proper way.

You should be able to wash the gauge area with soap and a water hose. Anything short of a pressure washer. I was surprised when I took that black frame off and saw that all the water channels right to the top edge of that clear plastic cover. When I get it back, ill have to look to see how I can seal it better.

I finally got my Spyder back from the shop. The warranty covered it but it took a long time for parts to get there. Anyways, all is well now.
