MoGang: PLEASE move Spyderfest to MAY

April at these dates are usually warm. We had new record lows and I bet it doesn't get this cold again in my life time in late April. It can get very overrun in May. Fall is nice to. Maybe Oct. Lets do both.

AS I understand, Spyderfiest is for all that choose to attend. Noone forces you to attend. If you deem it dangerous to attend then stay home. Attend another event. As others have posted, there are multiple events held throughout the country and throughout the Spring, Summer and Fall.
The Mogang has put in a ton of time and effort to put this event on. I would guess, that given the criticism levied on them because of the weather, they may decide the hell with it. Then everyone can stay home.

You want us to just shut up and stay home?? That's an awfully insensitive attitude to your fellow Spyderlovers up north isn't it? People in the northern states want so much to attend Spyderfest but are largely excluded simply because of where they live and the time of year it's held. How would you feel if your area of the country was excluded?

Sure we can and do go to other events when motorcycle season finally begins here after April but Spyderfest is -The- event of the year and I can give no better compliment to the wonderful, incredible people who make Spyderfest possible. The good folks up north's desire for date in which they can safely attend is definitely not criticism but in fact high praise.

Please don't leave us out.

I totally understand the reasoning for Spyderfest in April. I support it as well and thank everyone for doing all the did ! I dont think they should move it just for us northeners but I do hope that another event can fill in the gap for the need for a Spyder event in the north like SpyderQuest or maybe another Spyder event can be held later in the season which is easier for northeners to attend. Maybe pit bull would like to do something in conjuction with Cowtown later in the season, or maybe Cowtown could do something later in the spring or even Fall prior to end end of September when spyderquest is scheduled to not interfere with another rally that is already scheduled. ore rallys the merrier ! I think we should encourage whoever wants to take on the task of planning a rally ! More stuff for all of us to attend !

Cant wait for SpyderQuest in Sepetember by the way :) !!

I don't think anyone wants to exclude you, but to say an event is unsafe because it happens to conflict with the weather in your area, makes no sense at all. Do you say the same thing about Bike Week at Daytona? We here in the North are faced with the possibilty of snow when we leave or return from events elsewhere, during six months of the year. I don't know what they do in Vermont, but in Michigan if things look shaky we load the trailer and tow down if necessary. Many a Michigan rider has found out the hard way when he/she took advantage of a thaw and rode to Florida for Bike Week, that he/she could be stranded by a snowstorm on the trip back home. Spyderfest is a local event, put on at their convenience and on their terms. While it speaks very highly of the event that it draws international and nationwide interest, attendance is at the discretion of the participant. Attend if you wish, stay home if you must, but it is your decision, not the promotor's responsibility. JMHO

Utah weather

The weather in northern Utah precludes us from ever attending an event in April. Most of the time we have 2 foot of snow on the ground. I don't mind riding in the rain, but I do mind riding in the snow. If the event was moved to a later time it would be easier for those of us who live in the rockies to attend. I have ridden all year, even in 8 degree weather, but I don't think I can convince my wife to do the same. Maybe we need 2 events, one out west and one midwest or east. I would be willing to help organize one in the west. I do have experience putting together car shows, so I'm sure a Spyder event wouldn't be much different. I do believe our local dealer would help sponsor the event. Cheers everyone and ride safe.

As president of a SRA chapter in SouCal, notorious for its great weather, three times I've had to cancel runs in one year because of the weather. Extreme heat and extreme cold which could lead to ice on the road. I will not jeopardize the life and body of a fellow ryder if it can be avoided. Many people could not come to SF because of the weather there or the weather at home. That's life people, get over it already. If we had another 1000 ryders in Springfield because the whole country had perfect weather would you be complaining because there's too many people? When Spyders In The Redwoods comes around in Sonora in August it will be warm, very warm in parts of the country. Maybe even in Sonora. Please don't come if you think it will be unhealthy or unsafe. DO come if you want to have fun together in the Yosemite and gold country of California. But make sure you learn about hydration and group ryding. We have many ryders who are not very experienced on their bikes yet especially in a group. Should we cancel out the group runs in SF because of the rain? I say yes, he'll yes! In a group environment and experience and how big the groups are it is dangerous. Very dangerous. But we can't do that can we? I know there are MC safety instructors at SF. We should give them a chance to show their stuff. Somehow.

Respectfully disagree

I live in Northwest Washington state the cold part. Was this year at tough year to get to Spyderfest because of the weather? Sure was. Do we want to exclude folks from northern regions? Absolutely NOT. But for me life is about choices. Pitbull Powersports and Mogang do the best they can under the conditions. It would be wonderful if they could control every situation that we would need to make it perfect for each individual to come to Spyderfest. Do I think that will happen? :roflblack::roflblack: Pretty sure the second coming would happen first!! I have tremendous respect for the people that plan and organize Spyderfest and then I make my choices whether to attend or not. Have I made what I consider great suggestions to improve this incredible event? Sure have. Have they occurred: I know they listen I know the process and then they make their decision. Some of my ideas they liked others must not have because they didn't include. So there again if they don't do Myway my choice is be flexible or take my toys and go play some place else. Of course my choices to play with the most amazing bunch of people and Spyderlovers I've ever met.

There were people from 3 different provinces of Canada so, the northern states, while a decent one cause of ice and snow, is not a true excuse.

Please don't put words in my mouth, I only said it could be unsafe for people in the North to get to Spyderfest, I never said the event itself was unsafe nor did I ever say it was the promoter's responsibility, it clearly isn't. Please let's set that record straight.

I was simply inquiring if it was at all possible to perhaps alter the date to allow people from the North to safely attend. If the answer is no, then the answer is no and I accept that, but you can't blame us for trying. Every year we watch months in advance the excitement growing for Spyderfest and we wish we could be a part of it too. Is that so hard to understand? Yes, if we want to risk it we could try, or if we all had the money for a trailer and a tow vehicle large enough for our Spyders we could haul them, but most folks can't. So year after year we watch quietly from the sidelines as the rest of you enjoy the season's best event. We are not whining, we are not complaining, and we are not criticizing. We are simply asking if we can join you.

I have nothing but the highest respect for all the people who make Spyderfest happen and I wish them the best of continued success even if the date stays the same. We'll be with you in spirit if not in body. Cheers.

Spyderfest and MoGang Rocks

First, let me state that I am a senior woman from Florida who just attended my first Spyderfest. We rode in on our Spyders late Tuesday afternoon. The temperature dropped from 72 to 42 in five minutes and the rain began to fall. I have never been so cold and wet in my life, but we made it. I spent all day Wed. At Pit Bull waiting for service on our Spyders. That was my choice, no one forced me to sit there, just like no one forced them to give me free sodas and popcorn. The ladies ryde was a little rushed, but awesome and the weather perfect. Thank you MoGang! After sitting in my motel all day Friday in my motel room, I stated to others and on GOS that I would not return if they did not change the dates. I was wrong. I made a hasty, errant decision. I looked at the projected weather report. According to the report, if SF had been one week later, it would have been beautiful. If it had been 2 weeks later, it would have been wetter and colder than we had endured. Although I missed a lot of events, I had a blast! It was all about the people I met and the new friends I made. We had a fabulous ryde home and oh yes, it rained on us in Florida.
