• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Mod Help

I am looking for an unusual mod for my RT Ltd.

I want to mount a very small camera on/in the trunk pointing backwards so I can see traffic behind me (something like a back up camera but able to see farther than 30' and have IR), the monitor will be mounted on the cowling between the dash and windshield.

So far every place that sells this type of equipment tell me it can't be done or the camera alone is going to cost over $1000, and about $500 for a monitor.

any ideas?

thx

[QUOTEThere is lots of stuff like that for rv's simple ones that are wireless and use a license plate bolt for the camera and are 199 or less

most back up cameras are either too big or don't see far enough behind to be of any good for what I am looking for

the licence plate style are no good as the are too low and would look like crap mounted on the trunk

I need a high rez camera and monitor about 4"x6" or so

:agree: This is correct. To get distance with any appreciable field of view and resolution you are looking at complex optics and sensors. That cost $$$$. IR looking back is a waste of $$$. Anyone pulling up behind you with headlights on will saturate the IR sensor and possibly destroy it and all you will see on the display is bright white spots.

Use your mirrors to see what's behind and keep your eyes on the road in front of you.

You are in "Western Canada", a rather large area !!
Check Canadian Tire, they have 3 Backup Cameras under $200.
Also Costco.ca lists one for $69.99 and looks like the ones on Ebay.
