• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Missing Two Bolts - Oil Filter Housing Right Hand Side.

After doing my first oil change (1000km service tonight) I think I might be missing two bolts. On the Oil Filter Housing on the Right hand side at approx the 5:00 position I noticed on my unit two threaded holes that did not have any bolts in them. After looking at some threads tonight I think I might be missing the two bolts that go in there. What size are they and are they critical? I am two hours away from my local dealer. I just got this bike yesterday and it is a 2012 and it only had 1000km on it when I bought it.

MISSING PARTS

WELCOME TO SPYDERLOVERS......PS It's always helpful to let us know what kind of :ani29: we are dealing with.....they are not all the same.....Mike

You should also include whether it's a SM5 or SE5, just so everyone has all the info. I'm sure someone out here will give you the answer. If you can take a pic and post that will help also.

If you're talking about the bolts that hold the oil filter cap on....there are only two. I think there are a few unused threaded holes in that general area too.

A photo would help.....

Well the two that hold the filter cap on are there as I changed the filter tonight. There are two threaded empty holes at approx the 5:00 position if you were looking at it as if it was a clock face. Just wondering if that was normal - maybe it is.

I'm pretty sure that's used for the reverse cable on the SM5 only: (left pic SM5...SE5 on right)

For lack of a better word there just production holes, You'll see them on all types of engines.
Nothing to worry about!

I have found that the engineers like to seem smarter that the rest of us so they put stuff where it makes no sense. You call and they tell you it is nothing important and hangup laughing because they think they are smarter than us. But if you dont call and ask, you will never know.

 I think that I'd rather not know about the little pranks that they play on us just because they can... :roflblack:
