Missing Nut-Plates in Sports Rack...

Didn't know how to title this thread but here is the situation.

Have the sports rack and have taken it on and off many times. Put the four screws in the bottom of the big middle piece, screw them in. Something down below catches and holds the threads of the screws.

Since I put in new rear lights, whatever is catching and holding the screws in has gone walkabout. The area is too tight for lock-nuts. My thinking is they are metal plates that can slide around and they slid somewhere down the spine of the Spyder.

Have probed down as far as possible with a flexible retriever and not heard any loose clinking.

Anybody have any ideas?

Yes there are two (2) plates that according to the installation instructions they slide into end of extrusion
The part # 705 002 610

Will order one and use longer screws and lock-nuts in the mean time.

It takes 2 plates. 1 for each side.

I thought I lost mine once also-- as I had taken it apart and let it sit for a week... when I went to reassemble I couldn't find the 'nuts'.... then found these two flat metal pieces around 2.5" long with holes in them---- duh--- those are what slide in there and then you screw into.

They gotta be laying around somewhere---

When I installed new rear lights, no extra pieces found after buttoning her up. Alot of angst was going on while trying to get those lights out. Maybe they got shifted somewhere I can't find?

Got a new set of bolts and lock-nuts. The nuts fit right into the slot. Too close a fit to use a wrench on, so shimmed a screwdriver in to keep the back nuts from rotating. Was able to use a wrench on the front ones. Looks pretty neat and tidy.

Didn't take any pictures before getting it all back together because is was so hot I was dripping on Spydee. Sweat is harder to get off a Phantom than water spots.

Still trying to get new nut plates ordered. Don't have much trust in getting them anytime soon. Still waiting for my new frunk that was ordered in March.

The good news is I can now ryde passengers and not worry about them falling off the back end.:2thumbs:
