• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Mirror Turn Indicators

Does anyone have a picture of, or know what the mirror backings looks like? I want to install my indicators behind the mirrors, but don't want to make major modifications to the mirror backings.

There are a lot of threads on this, just search them. I took my mirrors apart for wiring on my 2012 RT when adding the LED's -- kind of hard to do and they never were quite the same after (a little looser fit after snapped everything back together).

On the 2014 RT, I did NOT take the mirrors apart, just drilled a small strategic hole where I wanted to fish the wires through and that worked well. The LED's then were place on the inside perimeter of the mirror area....no disassembly of the mirror. Only thing you need to do is remove them from the bike. If you've done the mirror removal before, should be a snap. I elected to solder in the wiring this time to each of the leads instead of using posilocks....made for a nice install.

Good luck with your updates to your Spyder!

I added a small strip of LEDs to the inner edge closest to the body of the bike...

I put them there so that they wouldn't "Dazzle" me with the reflections in the mirrors.
I wanted to have just enough light out there so that I could easily tell if I had a blinker on; yet still let folks know in an adjacent lane, what I was planning to do...

I went with something that I thought was appealing to the eye but very effective. Some of the LED strips were a little overpowering for my taste. This was one of my favorite mods that cost me about $4.00.

I tried to to upload a short video from my iPhone but got an error message. Any idea why ?

I was thinking long the same line, I love the type that go behind the glass but for now I am going to install the led in the flat lip along the top of the dash. There is just enough room in there to install 3mm diodes and possibly 5's. I plan on install all of my diodes along this lip, 2 for signal reminder (L/R) one for radar and one for alarm.

I am currently looking at creating a box that will fit under the lip that I can mount switch's, my radar remote, small Volt meter etc. If done correctly it will hug the underside of the dash and look like it should be there. Time will tell, lol.

I used the "strip" of LED's on my mirrors on the 2012 RT Limited and liked them. Not too bright, even at night and allowed for other drivers to see your intent on turning even when they are just behind you or aside -- I think it helps awareness for other drivers that you're turning...

I'm big on safety, as most of you are, and added a 3rd brake light (HMT). I used the full 36 red LED version to show BRIGHT red when stopping to people behind me...we had that on our 2012 as well and I think it might of saved us a couple of times!

So....I elected to do the same on the 2014 RT Limited. I like the ability to know that my turn signals are still on and it allows the ryder to see them during the day unlike the dash turn indicators....

I liked everyone's ideas and comments and to each their own decisions. Good luck to you all who are making this type of mod....enjoy!:thumbup:

Here's a few pics of the turn indicators on the mirrors and the HMT rear brake light (one picture shows the running lights and the other shows the brake light (very bright):

Looks fantastic:firstplace:
I have the rear LED brake lite, but had not decided on the mirrored lights. Yours look real good and I may have to copy you if you do not mind.
