• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Mirror Removal

Yup. You got it..

I rap them with the palm of my hand...back, then up, to release the springs, then lift straight up to take the mirror off the "keyhole" latch. Installation is the reverse. It also helps to put a zip-tie around the turn signal wire near the connector, leaving the tail intact. This will prevent the wiring from slipping back inside the hole after you disconnect the mirror. Some Spyders will already have the zip-tie. My 2010 did, but not my 2011.

I push in at the top on the side and up on the bottom. That way I don't pull out too much and break the plastic clip on the top connector.

:agree: while the mirror is off have a look at the springs . You can bend these a wee bit to make the mirror fit tighter.

I'm having trouble with both mirrors as the front pin doesn't want to lock in. On one of them, the plastic is loose because a part broke off some time in it's life that holds the mirror together.
I'm not sure if the problem is the wires from the TricLED install is somehow causing the interference in the mirrors locking. I'm going to try re-routing wires if I can.

Bent Clip

My left mirror is loose and I used the reverse of the install video to remove the mirror ... can clearly see a spread / bend in the forward most clip, the other just below the keyhole is fine and straight. I tried a bit to straighten the one but didn't have much success.

Soo..... what is the best way to straighten these clips? :hun: I am confident that this is the reason the one mirror is loose as there is more "wiggle" in the forward area than the rear.

Any advice appreciated .... Ann

Remove the mirrors and straighten the wires. Small bows can be straightened with your fingers. For badly bent wires you may need needlenose pliers, but be very gentle! The wires should be parallel to each other and not bowed outward (straight in both directions) for best results. The rear wiggles less because of the keyhole clip. That provides one fixed mounting point in the rear, so it wiggles less. Your mirrors clip wires will bend less if you use the method of rapping them loose that I described above. Tugging at them bends the wires more. Also, a thin film of lubricant on the outer, conical surface of the mounting pins (be careful not to get any inside the groove) will help the mirrors go on more easily, bending the wires less. The rapping method in reverse works well for that, too.
