• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

F-ing mirrors

I can't seem to get the F-ing mirrors snapped back on. HELP PLEASE
I'm sure everyone here would like to help ....... however if someone walked up to on the street and asked this question to you, do you think you could answer it based on this amount of info ???? ................... rant over ..... If you are talking about the RT mirrors that have the magnets, do you have three or two magnets ( on each mirror ). Do your mirrors have a safety lanyard ????? .... Did you put the magnets on or did someone else ??? ............ help us help you ..... Mike

RT mirrors

Take mirror wire off. Inspect mirror spring fasteners. Spring should be parallel on each side. If not, use needle nose pliers to bend back. Then, a spritz of WD40 on the springs. Connect wire, insert connection in hole. Hang the top of the mirror. Align the prong on the bike with the spring, and using the heel of your hand, smack straight in. Then, align the front spring and prong. Smack. Done. See number below - call if you need to. Joe

The top post does not snap, it hooks.

Hook it on first, then look inside to get the other two mount points lined up and then push down with one hand while giving the outside end a downward "thump" with the other hand. A tiny bit of lube on the bottom posts helps.

What helped me have no trouble now going on and off was watching the Shawn Smoak RT oil change video. Two quick slaps and the mirror comes off, two quick slaps and it goes back on. I watched that portion of the video several times and then did it. No trouble since. Watch the video at 11:30. To me, it made a difficult job, very easy.

Check out www.magicmirrors.shop for all the info & to watch all vids on these replacemments for the OE mirror mounts, then talk to Lamonster or Doc Humpreys or any of the other US stockists about getting yourself a set for your Spyder so that you'll NEVER have issues with fitting or removing your mirrors again!

+1 on the Shawn Smoak video on Youtube. If I remember right I think he has one just on taking the mirrors on and off.

+1 for upgrading the stock mirror clips and springs things with the MagicMirrors, once you switch to them, you'll forget you ever had this issue.
I originally thought "Now how often will I have to remove and replace the mirrors on my RT?" Way too often to deal with that :banghead: factory system.

Joe Meyer's description is what Shawn Smoak's video shows. In addition to checking the springs as Joe says I rub them with some fine steel wool to remove any corrosion that has accumulated. I also put a greasy finger dab (barely visible) of white lithium grease on just the ball head of the studs and the mirrors snap right into place as Joe says. I do take the time to clean the studs and springs each time I remove a mirror.

After watching Shawn's video, I almost look forward to the next time I need to remove my mirrors...... almost. All kidding aside, really good information here. Next time I remove a mirror I will be certain to check everything and do a little lube job to protect.

I had one stud that was very hard to get the mirror to snap on to it. I unscrewed it and put a thin washer behind it to bring it out a bit. It snaps on like it should now.
