There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Mirror Extensions

I have been waiting since early/mid June for mirror extensions to be shipped, they keep telling me they are on back order. Has anyone bought mirror extensions in the past couple weeks and had them ship already. Looking for a dealer that might have thme in stock so that I can cancel the order that I have now.

Thanks

Where did you order them from? If I may ask.... I just ordered from ESI the other day. Haven't gotten any backorder emails from them...

Ordered my second (third?) set from Kewlmetal in April after my little Spyder acrobatics trick and I just got them a few days ago. They're very backordered :( I'm not sure any distributors will have any in stock but I wish you luck finding a set.

I ordered them from Direct Line, I never got any emails saying it was on back order. After 3 weeks of tracking it on the website I called they said Kewl Metal had them on backorder and it would be in the end of the following week, 2 weeks later I called and got the same answer...going to be in at the end of the week. As of this morning their web site tracking shows it has still not been shipped, Maybe I will see if ESI has them in stock or try KM direct and cancel the order with Direct.

I waited several weeks for mine when I ordered them from Kewl Metal. It may be possible that they wait until they get enough orders to have a new batch fabricated if they contract them out. Machine shops charge less for large orders.

Roberts Sports Center, a BRP dealer in Malone, NY has the Kewl Metal extensions in stock if you need them right away. 518-483-5400.

So I noticed on my online statement that they have now charged my credit card, so I called to get a tracking #...the mirror extensions are in but now the trinket that I bought to bring up my total is on back order:yikes:.

They finally arrived yesterday only took 2 months and a week...wow what a difference:clap:. I have only one question, the stock mirrors had these little plastic filler pieces that have a curve to them, and for the life in me I can not figure out how to put them back on and make them stay put, had anyone installed the KewlMetal extensions and been able to put the plastic trim pieces back on?

Glue... the ESI extensions came with a little tube of plastic-safe superglue, Loctite might also do the trick.

Word of caution: if you get sloppy with too much glue, even if it's "safe" it likes to yuck up the front of those plastic pieces. To make it look nice I spent a lot longer trying to clean off the glue than I wanted to because I'm sloppy at this stuff!

RTV silicone works better, but has to cure overnight. If you wipe it with a wet finger after you install the covers, the excess will not show if you use the black silicone.

I would not recommend installing anything that did not come from the factory on a BRP product. All you are asking for is every issue under the sun that arises with your spyder being blamed on them with claims of a default on a best program.

nater1, I truly feel terrible for your troubles, but after all your posts it sounds to me like your problems really stem from your dealer, and not with BRP.

There are plenty of mod-friendly Can-Am dealers around who won't use a mod-- particularly an innocuous mod like a bolt-on mirror extension (!)-- as an excuse to invalidate what has for many owners proven to be a suitably flexible warranty.

Best of luck with your Spyder issues, and safe riding!

Do not frame me as a spyder basher .
I am pointing out the facts of what might happen, and it will cost you several hundred dollars in shop work not covered under the warrant.
What I understand, and have seen about the mirror kit is it comes with extended leads for the signals. If you install them with no problems, and everything operates fine for 2 years you are not out of the water yet.
The BUDS system can at random at any time throw a fault code without logical reason because the voltage is different that spec which tosses the spyder in locked limp mode.
You will take it to the dealer because you will not see a obvious problem. The dealers will spend hours troubleshooting your spyder because the BUDS system is not specific on what a problem is. It will later be pushed off as the wiring as been alter which has caused the problem instead of the BUDS system has a calibration issue over time. You will be left with the $400 bill for nothing.
Ask yourself how this could be installed two years ago, and ridden for thousands of miles with out troubles? Then one day it is the problem, and not the system degrading?

If I was having a repeatable problem like that, I would start by REMOVING any custom mods that I installed that I thought might contribute to the problem - one at a time until either the problem goes away or I was back to stock -- and THEN take it in if it's still doing it.

...What I understand, and have seen about the mirror kit is it comes with extended leads for the signals...

As best as I recall, Kewlmetal mirror extensions don't come with or require turn signal wiring extensions. Neither does the ESI Up and Out mirror extensions.

I installed the Kewlmetal extensions and I don't remember wiring extensions. How ever they came worked just fine. About the plastic beauty caps. I have not done this yet, but I plan to drill a shallow 3/16" hole in the windshield side of the extension for the plastic tab of the cap to fit. I'll do it soon and post some pics.
